22.01.2022 I may sound crazy but I really feel some pieces are destined for certain people and especially with my turtles . They may sit on my wall for a while or get snapped up before I have even finished them but there seems to always be a story with where they go.. Often it is due to an encounter, but sometimes it is symbolism or star- sign related or just a total (girl after my own heart) turtle fanatic Elliot here found a home like that yesterday and I can’t wait to paint a tur...tle lady friend to join him on the wall . If you have a turtle shaped hole in the wall (or your life) do get in touch. If there is one thing I will never tire of it is these beautiful creatures

20.01.2022 October last year I was gearing up for @theotherartfair in Sydney. A crazy lead up of painting and even crazier weekend of chatting art to art lovers and live painting in the beautiful Barangaroo Every exhibition, range or show I do I never quite recognise how far my work has come. It’s only when enough time has passed that you can look back and think woah! This or that has developed, I use a new technique or see colour differently for that now.. Can any other artists out there relate? Or do you prefer to just look forward?

09.01.2022 I remember the night I painted ‘Morning Light’ at @theotherartfair . It was incredibly humid and I had to work quickly to manipulate the paint into the right drips and shapes for the feathers. About half way through a guy came up to me and barked ‘how much for that?’ With his suited, beer-in- hand mates in tow. I said it wasn’t finished but ‘would be $850 when it was done’. He laughed at me. ‘I’ll give you $500’. ... ‘Sorry’ I said. ‘But it will be $850 when it’s finished.’ ‘But I’m right here and I’ll give you $500... Are you really going to turn down $500? you’ve only painted that tonight!’ ‘Yes I said. You are welcome to see me when it is done and buy it for what I’m asking.’ I never saw him again. Today a lovely lady sat near my dad on the bus to work. They got chatting and he told her about my art. The next thing she was on my website buying ‘Morning Light’ for what I asked for, no questions. Art and money is such a hard thing. Some gauge value on its ability to be evocative, some on what a gallery values it at. What that guy didn’t realise when he was trying to bargain me down was the hours I had taken learning to manipulate the paint. The high-quality materials I had experimented with and used on it and the hours afterwards I would take perfecting the background, edges and finer details. Sometimes as creatives we feel we have to justify our skills, our work and yep it’s value too. I’m just here saying (as someone who’s been through it ALOT) stay firm. Know your worth and if people don’t value it then they are not your people. But those legends are out there (possibly waiting for your dad to spruik about you on a bus )

09.01.2022 These two are always up to something..

09.01.2022 Very excited to be dusting off the spare paintbrushes to teach a few classes this weekend I was hesitant in doing these given the state of the world but a little creativity seems just what everyone needs. Looking forward to sharing some tips and tricks with my new community in Far North Queensland at the beautiful @stcrispinspd ... The first kids and adult class are sold out but new times/ dates have been added to the website under ‘workshops’ below https://stephanieelizabethartwork.com//watercolour-worksho
