25.01.2022 This afternoon some of our staff had an amazing opportunity to meet and speak with the Premier Mark McGowan in Carnarvon, Western Australia. The Premier was in town to support pre selected North West Central WA Labor candidate Cherie Sibosado.

As part of the Rising Leaders program each students entered into a design a Win a Guernsey competition with the winner receiving a printed Guernsey for themselves and their school. ... 18.01.2022 On Friday the students from Fremantle College celebrated their presentation dinner at Fremantle Oval. This event acknowledged the Year 10 students and their completion of the Stephen Michael Foundation's Rising Leaders program. The Foundation would like to congratulate each and every one of the students who participated in the leadership program and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours.... A special mention to students Josh Taylor-Thorpe and Mollie Wallace. Josh was specially presented his winning guernsey design and Mollie the inaugural recipient of the Stephen Michael Award. The legend Stephen Michael in person to present Mollie with this honour. It has been a pleasure working with the Fremantle College Year 10 Rising Leaders Program participants in 2020.



16.01.2022 Rising Leaders Events This week the Year 8 & 10 students at Carnarvon Community College hosted their Rising Leaders Program events. The Year 10 students held an Arts and Crafts event for the school's Year 2 students based on the programs design a guernsey competition. Following this, both Year 10 and 2 students shared a morning tea together. ... The Year 8 Rising Leaders class held a football event for the Year 1 and 2 classes. The Year 8 class went through modified rules of AFL and all students played a part in the event proceedings such as umpiring, timing, food, water and coaching. This was followed by a sausage sizzle for the younger year groups. We are extremely proud of both Rising Leaders classes. The students showed great leadership and organisation skills throughout the program and main event.

07.01.2022 Yesterday the students in our Rising Leaders program at CSHS had the privilege of participating in a Cultural Learning Session presented by Troy Bennell from Ngalang Wongi Aboriginal Cultural Tours. Following this the students were involved in playing some traditional games including Meecha Boma

06.01.2022 The students in our Rising Leaders program at Katanning Senior High School were given the opportunity today to participant in an art session with Indigenous Artists Linda Loo. The foundation is incredibly grateful to Linda and Bruce for making the trip to Katanning.

01.01.2022 Yesterday 35 youth from Meekatharra participated in a multisport carnival held by the Stephen Michael Foundation in conjunction with Carey Right Track Foundation and Tom Gorman from Geraldton who lead some Rugby. All those who participated were put through a range of running drills and sprints, javelin activation with the crew from Carey Right track. They then completed a great session with Tom, concentrating on Tackle technique, passing and finishing with 2 touch rugby game...s. The SMF finished the evening with a range of basketball drills and games with the highlight being a staff v youth match with CEO Paul Mugambwa dunking to give the staff a 2 point win . A huge thank you Janine Binsiar, Andrew Binsiar from Youth Focus and Rob Binsiar from Mission Australia for rolling up their sleeves on the BBQ we really appreciate all your efforts A great night was held and we look forward to continuing our relationships and program delivery in Meekatharra as well as the greater Murchison region in 2021. 01.01.2022 Culture Through Sport Yesterday the Stephen Michael Foundation staff had the opportunity to deliver Traditional Aboriginal games to students from Safety Bay Senior High School . The students had the opportunity to participate in the following games: Meecha Boma ... Iily Edor The Foundation staff also had the opportunity to be invited to the Welcome Ceremony, which included a traditional dance preformed by the students.
