16.01.2022 Urban governance mayhem playing out in the USA - such as shame. I hope it raises the opportunity to rethink powers or cities vs states and nations in the future!

15.01.2022 Fun UN fact for the day to keep you eyes above the day to day! Global population will increase from 7.7 billion in 2019 to 9.7 billion in 2050 and reach 10.9 billion in 2100. More than half of that growth is likely to occur in India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Indonesia, Egypt and the United States.

08.01.2022 I am passionate about how cities and communities work and right now a radically new urban operating system being urgently installed. This is not a short-term discussion; many ideas and opportunities will need to be explored and implemented in the coming weeks, months and years to help people and places be more liveable, sustainable, healthy, happy and productive. This will not just consume 2020; things will never be the same again. We must welcome this and recognise the lo...ng-term opportunities that can arise from of our short-term actions. More than ever, now is the time to embrace positive change to reinvent how we run our cities, corporations and communities. This is an exciting opportunity to make the world a better place we must not miss! Crisis is an opportunity to address how we do lots of things that have always been too hard to change. It’s the perfect time explore new ways to improve human connections, encourage healthy, happy and mindful lives, respond and adapt to climate change, adopt new and useful behaviours and technologies and rethink how we use private and public space in the short and long term. I have had all my current work postponed and am now devoting my time to detailed research on what cities and communities around the world are doing regarding COVID-19 prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. I am available to councils, community groups and corporations to help with short, medium and long term strategies, actions and governance to aid in the rapid response needed to deal with prevision and the long recovery road ahead. We need a vision, strategy and actions to enable a better future, so please spread the word and watch this spaceI will be posting some interesting content over the coming weeks and months!

03.01.2022 If you are interested in the density & COVID discussion, this is a good scan or read."Density" is good for human health...its all about how you handle crowding. "It is a general assumption that density is associated with higher rates of transmission, infection, and mortality from highly contagious diseases such as COVID-19 (Olsen, 2020; Rosenthal, 2020). Our national analysis of the relationship between density and the COVID-19 infection and mortality rates for 913 metropolitan counties in the United States suggests quite the opposite".

03.01.2022 Thanks to the Planning Institute of Australia for the conversation on COVID & cities...
