16.01.2022 10 years ago today: PhD examination as part of the Practise Research Symposium at the School of Architecture and Urban Design, RMIT. Amazing experience being part of the Higher Degrees by Research program that examines what designers actually do when they design, and seeks to develop new and innovative approaches to creative practice. 14.01.2022 3 years ago, I returned to PNG with Drusilla Modjeska to the fjords of Tufi and the village of Tainabuna. Our aim was to find a way to improve access to education. The result was School-in-a-Box, a small durable, easy to transport pop-up box of resources including a tent, solar energy generation & storage, fresh water, art supplies & books. Today I fly to Tainabuna to erect their School-in-a-Box.

13.01.2022 I have great respect for the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. But, having worked in The Netherlands and listened to the language that he uses to describe difference (between city, country, centre, periphery and anything that sits outside the Dutch perspective of these things, like Australia) I also recognise the often-times glib weaknesses of his thinking. This is why Jillian Walliss's critique of his Australian lecture is so clear, precise, astute and welcome.

11.01.2022 Thrilled and wonderfully surprised to have been awarded the Australian Award for International Architecture last night at the National Architecture Awards in Melbourne. This project was only made possible by the dedication of author Drusilla Modjeska and many other volunteers in Australia and PNG, alongside partners such as Victorian Women's Trust, Mundango Abroad, Planet Wheeler Foundation, Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade , and the Readings Foundation. But it was only a pilot. There's much more that can be done to improve it.

11.01.2022 To celebrate another successful year (made great by some wonderful clients) we got the fantastic local bakery Flour and Stone to make Christmas Cookies of some of our projects from 2017.

10.01.2022 I think it would be better if Keating used his media opportunities to advocate for a better Sydney. Just remember he supported the towers at Barangaroo...

04.01.2022 Very happy to learn that Stephen Collier Architects have been awarded in the 2018 Australian International Chapter Architecture Awards for School-in-a-Box. Huge note of thanks and appreciation go out to Paolo Stracchi and Jordan McIlroy for their generous, thoughtful contributions and hard work. Also have to thank Peter Bennetts for his extraordinary photos and support in the early stages
