24.01.2022 The NSW Government have approved the Narrabri gas project. I don't believe the community will let this decision stand.

22.01.2022 RIP Tony Kelly.

21.01.2022 The independent truth about how the state government bungled our water needs. "A report released by the state's Auditor-General Margaret Crawford has slammed the NSW government's management of town water infrastructure, following the 2019-2020 drought". https://www.dailyliberal.com.au//h2o-chaos-state-bureauc/

20.01.2022 Great to catch up today with Jeff Amatto, an incredible campaigner for drug treatment services and a great bloke with a big story.

19.01.2022 Everyone knows who follows this page that my biggest passion and fight right now is obtaining drug rehabilitation and detoxification services for our region. But what most excites me of current FUNDED projects council is working on? THIS. It is going to be AMAZING. Council secured considerable state funds for this and it will be worth every cent. This is to the credit of Dugald Saunders MP and if he continues to deliver on key projects he will be able to say he has effectively used the political power this electorate gave him when they made him the National Party’s most marginal seat holder.

19.01.2022 Great story about the mayor of Coonamble.

18.01.2022 The Independent Planning Commission will release it's decision on the Narrabri gas project at 9am today.

17.01.2022 The religious clergy of the region today united in support of the community push for a rehabilitation and detoxification centre. Very inspiring.

17.01.2022 27 November, 2020 TOTAL FIRE BAN ISSUED AHEAD OF HEATWAVE CONDITIONS Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is advising residents a Total Fire Ban has been declared for tomorrow, Saturday 28 November.... This means no hot works such as welding or grinding are to be done in the open, no barbecues which use solid fuel such as wood, charcoal or heat beads, and it’s strongly recommended you reconsider any mowing or slashing work. More information can be found on the NSW Rural Fire Service website - https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//fdr-and-t/total-fire-ban-rules Temperatures are expected to hit 40 in Dubbo and the surrounding region over the weekend, with another sweltering day forecast for Tuesday. NSW Health has issued a heat alert, urging people to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and others during the hot conditions. More information can be found on NSW Health website https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//beattheh/Pages/default.aspx Mayor of the Dubbo Region, Councillor Ben Shields is urging residents to plan ahead, look out for one another and take advantage of the region’s facilities. We are lucky in the Dubbo region to have three Aquatic Leisure Centres at Dubbo, Wellington and Geurie so take advantage of those over this extremely hot weekend. While you are out, use plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated. Take the opportunity to check in on relatives and neighbours who might be particularly vulnerable to the heat and help them find ways to keep their house cool. If you are heading out for the day and have pets, make sure you leave them with shade and a lot of water they feel the heat too. The Dubbo and Wellington Aquatic Leisure Centres are open 6am - 8:30pm on Saturday, and 10am 8pm on Sunday, while Geurie is open 11:30am 6:30pm both days. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, residents are asked to be mindful that there is a cap on the number of people allowed in at one time. This will be updated on the Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/DubboRegionALC/ ENDS

17.01.2022 There will be no response to the ice inquiry in 2020, because of the war inside the government over drug law reform. Appalling. Still Dubbo region waits for a drug court and related reforms. https://www.smh.com.au//nsw-government-delays-response-to-

16.01.2022 Really interesting speech about a trailblazing woman.

14.01.2022 PROPOSED TREE PLANTING CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS Following a Mayoral Minute at the February 2019 Ordinary Council Meeting, tree-planting plans have been developed ...for Bultje, Wingewarra and Talbragar streets, between Macquarie and Bligh streets. 12.01.2022 The NSW government is seriously considering abolishing in person voting at local government elections starting next year. This is a really bad idea. I believe this will effectively disenfranchise voters in our region, particularly those from certain communities. It also deprives voters of the confidentiality of the normal voting system. It for example can allow dominant family members to control the voting of others. Obviously a diversity of general options is a good thing, but there should always being a day of general voting at polling places, in addition to pre poll and postal votes where needed. Please write to Dugald Saunders ([email protected]) and state your opposition. https://www.smh.com.au//blow-to-democracy-fury-at-plan-for

12.01.2022 My nieces have been to this wonderful school. The principal is in Dubbo 7.10 to meet interested parents.

12.01.2022 Good political communication. You know it when you see it.

11.01.2022 God joins rehab fight?

11.01.2022 Never heard of them I must admit. But better than maccas I'm told.

11.01.2022 Drug Court‘s reduce crime and save human life. This is why Dubbo regional council have been fighting for one for our region. More evidence out today. https://www.bocsar.nsw.gov.au//cjb232-The-long-term-effect

09.01.2022 Great Photo News coverage of some things Dubbo region needs in the November state budget.

09.01.2022 Courts have backed the NSW Government with public sector workers given a pittance - just 0.3% - to say 'thank you' for their hard work during the pandemic. This... is not good enough. Public Sector workers deserve better. Sign the petition: https://actionnetwork.org//public-sector-workers-deserve-b See more

08.01.2022 HAVE YOUR SAY: This is a debate that's been raging for years, without any resolution one way or the other. Where do you stand?

07.01.2022 A pay freeze is an "insult" to police officers doing their job, according to Police Association of NSW president Tony King, who was in Dubbo on Thursday to meet with members. https://www.dailyliberal.com.au//were-worth-more-than-ze/

07.01.2022 He was an incredibly positive role model for our young people and was integral in creating the original B-Town Warriors which we still celebrate. I still have ...a photo of Michael with our young blokes at the base of Mt Oxley on the wall in my office to mark a tremendous time in the lives of young people in Bourke which he helped create. For a little man he made a massive difference and will be sadly missed and forever remembered. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends, Toby Finlayson and the DPM crew. Vale Boomali. There is a special on NITV celebrating his contributions and skill tonight at 8:30pm. Bourke High School would like to send our condolences to the family of Micheal Graham aka BOOMALI who helped to guide our BTOWN Warriors to express their voice

05.01.2022 Wonderful to attend this today. Dubbo is getting a full blown medical school!

03.01.2022 Just a cold. But got a covid test just in case. Very quick and easy at the respiratory clinic on Brisbane St. 02 6815 9900. Appointments are necessary.

03.01.2022 Important reading. The NSW water minister, Melinda Pavey, blamed Dubbo city council for its dwindling water supply, saying: The advice that came to my office was that council had not done any work on the $30m for the bore field project announced in June this year. But a report by the auditor general for NSW, Margaret Crawford, said the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment was to blame. The department includes the water portfolio. ... https://amp.theguardian.com//damning-report-blames-nsw-gov

01.01.2022 Clr Debra O'Brien reinstated and immediately elected as deputy mayor of Armidale Regional Council! Well done friend.
