25.01.2022 On Tuesday 29th & Wednesday 30th of September the Stephen Michael Foundation held a youth football carnival in Carnarvon, Western Australia. This event was part of the Strong and Active Communities Program which is supported by Lotterywest and proudly partners with Healthway promoting the Foodbank WA - Superhero Foods Over 80 youth, aged 10-19 years, participated over the 2 days, with players travelling from Exmouth, Shark Bay, Gascoyne Junction, Karratha, and Geraldton.... Players and spectators were excited to meet Stephen Michael, who made the long journey to Carnarvon to learn more about the Foundation's programs in the Gascoyne region. A big thanks to Stephen for sharing stories about his life and his vision for the future of the Stephen Michael Foundation. Many thanks to ABC Foundation Food for the Mob team who provided delicious meals and Dylan and Marie Gane for the amazing banana bread and fruit kebabs. 20.01.2022 Yesterday 35 youth from Meekatharra participated in a multisport carnival held by the Stephen Michael Foundation in conjunction with Carey Right Track Foundation and Tom Gorman from Geraldton who lead some Rugby. All those who participated were put through a range of running drills and sprints, javelin activation with the crew from Carey Right track. They then completed a great session with Tom, concentrating on Tackle technique, passing and finishing with 2 touch rugby game...s. The SMF finished the evening with a range of basketball drills and games with the highlight being a staff v youth match with CEO Paul Mugambwa dunking to give the staff a 2 point win . A huge thank you Janine Binsiar, Andrew Binsiar from Youth Focus and Rob Binsiar from Mission Australia for rolling up their sleeves on the BBQ we really appreciate all your efforts A great night was held and we look forward to continuing our relationships and program delivery in Meekatharra as well as the greater Murchison region in 2021. 17.01.2022 Culture Through Sport Yesterday the Stephen Michael Foundation staff had the opportunity to deliver Traditional Aboriginal games to students from Safety Bay Senior High School . The students had the opportunity to participate in the following games: Meecha Boma ... Iily Edor The Foundation staff also had the opportunity to be invited to the Welcome Ceremony, which included a traditional dance preformed by the students.

14.01.2022 HOT OFF THE PRESS This week the Foundation received a very special delivery of our Rising Leaders Guernseys. As part of the Rising Leaders program each students entered into a design a Win a Guernsey competition with the winner receiving a printed Guernsey for themselves and their school. ... 13.01.2022 Today the Upper Great Southern Football League most talented 14 and 15 year old boys competed in the WA Country Development Squad carnival at East Fremantle Oval. 35 boys represented the Upper Great Southern region playing games against the Perth and East Fremantle regional development squads. Stephen Michael Foundation staff members Paul Reid, Ralph Kickett and Phil Agnew have been coaching the boys for the past 6 weeks in preparation for the carnival and all said they have loved the opportunity to enhance the skill levels of the local players. The carnival is the start of the junior talent pathway in WA and we hope to see a few of the boys playing for South Fremantle in the future.

13.01.2022 Last Thursday the Stephen Michael Foundation held a Youth football carnival in Narrogin, Western Australia There was a spectacular display of football skills and ability from the teams from York and Narrogin. 11.01.2022 On Wednesday the 30th of September the Stephen Michael Foundation held a football carnival in Yalgoo, Western Australia as part of the Murchison Sports League. This event was part of the Strong and Active Communities Program which is supported by Lotterywest and proudly partners with Healthway promoting the Foodbank WA - Superhero Foods Around 80 children from Meekatharra, Mount Manget, Mullewa and Yalgoo participated in the carnival. The Shire of Yalgoo were fantastic in... helping to make this carnival such a success. A big thanks to Food for the Mob through the ABC Foundation, Yulella Incorporated and Mission Australia who provided healthy food choices. Special thanks also to Fairy Deb Reader for brightening up the carnivals with her amazing face painting. A special part of this trip for our staff was getting to experience and be apart of an on country camp, thank you to Cecilia and Gsac for inviting us out. 11.01.2022 Collie Nightfields The Stephen Michael Foundation wrapped up its first Collie Nightfields last week, the program was run amazingly and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the support that we had from the Collie community. All of our volunteers were imperative to the program being such a success from supplying fresh fruit for the kids, our sporting stations and being team leaders. ... 05.01.2022 Great opportunity to meet with Sue Ellery MLC the WA Labor Education Minister from the today. It was a great be able to discuss our school & community programs to support young students. It was great to show the minister how we have grown and expanded into 18 schools which sees the young people trained and go on to get jobs.

05.01.2022 The Stephen Michael Foundation visited the Murchison region this week. The local communities are excited about the carnival to be held in Yalgoo next Wednesday. The Foundation is excited we are able to head back up to the Murchison now, and would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all the hard work local SMF staff member Wes has been doing for the Foundation.
