17.01.2022 Growing up on a self-sufficient farm has always left me with the idea that most of the things we are sold are unnecessary for a happy life after the basics. Further working in Advertising I have seen behind the curtain and realise that the majority of things advertised are advertised because they are not needed. Perhaps we can take this opportunity to look at what is really necessary for those of us who are privileged to live a happy life. Perhaps then we can see the disparity throughout the world when many do not have enough food to make it through the day or a roof to shelter from the rain. Maybe then we can end poverty and give homes to the abandoned and food to the starving. We may even wonder where all of the money produced through our efforts ends up. https://forge.medium.com/prepare-for-the-ultimate-gaslighti

16.01.2022 We are currently contacting everyone that has booked to see Dr Stephen Phillips from Eastern Medicine next week. All clinical appointments will be postponed from Monday due to a lack of PPE equipment. Masks and gloves will be an issue after tomorrow and we need to suspend all face to face treatments. Stephen will be available online via telemedicine from Monday for nutrition, herbs and health advice and prescriptions. Please email or call if you need health advice earlier than this. Until our next update, please stay safe and stay home. Lets get through this by doing what is asked of us.

14.01.2022 Stephen Phillips has attended weekly government briefings for Health Practitioners regarding COVID-19. We include this video as it is a great explanation of the current situation. Remember with new things threating us each year, take care of your health and immunity by getting enough rest exercise and taking care of your stress levels. Eat a healthy diet and get regular checkups. GOOD ADVICE. If you are unsure what to do please call Stephen at Eastern Medicine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSiW6ZvPqeg

14.01.2022 This includes ourselves!

13.01.2022 Ironic. Im listening to a briefing for registered health practitioners. Glad its an online course as one of the Doctors presenting keeps coughing badly. The lecture is very reassuring as it outlines that it is not as contagious as first thought and cases seen are not as severe as those who are already suffering other illnesses. As I have NOT been overseas in almost a year I am confident of my health and I am screening all patients to ensure they have not travelled or been unwell prior to visiting my practices, especially new patients. I want my practice will be a safe haven if you wish to boost your immunity and stay well. If you are in doubt of your health and what to do preventative then please give me a call.

11.01.2022 The following 10 foods are good sources of fiber or unsaturated fat (or both). But they're not in any particular order and are simply suggestions. Most whole grains, vegetables, and fruits are good sources of fiber. And most nuts and seeds (and the oils made from them) provide monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats. 1. Oatmeal. This whole grain is one of the best sources of soluble fiber, along with barley (see "Grain of the month," at right). Start your day with a bowl of s...teel-cut or old-fashioned rolled oats, topped with fresh or dried fruit for a little extra fiber. 2. White beans. Also called navy beans, this variety ranks highest in fiber content. Try different types of beans as well, such as black beans, garbanzos, or kidney beans, which you can add to salads, soups, or chili. But avoid prepared baked beans, which are canned in sauce that's loaded with added sugar. 3. Avocado. The creamy, green flesh of an avocado is not only rich in monounsaturated fat, it also contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. Enjoy this fruit sliced in salad, pureed into dip, or mashed and spread on a slice of whole-grain toast. 4. Eggplant. Although not everyone's favorite, these deep purple vegetables are one of the richest sources of soluble fiber. One idea: oven-roast or grill whole eggplants until soft and use the flesh in a Middle Eastern dip called baba ghanoush. 5. Carrots. Raw baby carrots are a tasty and convenient snack and they also give you a decent dose of insoluble fiber. 6. Almonds. Among nuts, almonds are highest in fiber, although other popular varieties such as pistachios and pecans are close behind. Walnuts have the added advantage of being a good source of polyunsaturated, plant-based omega-3 fatty acids. 7. Kiwi fruit. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to peel these fuzzy, brown fruits. But to avoid the skin, slice one in half and scoop out the inside with a spoon for an easy, fiber-rich, sweet snack. 8. Berries. Because these fruits are packed with tiny seeds, their fiber content is higher than most other fruits. Raspberries and blackberries provide the most, but strawberries and blueberries are also good sources. 9. Cauliflower. This cruciferous veggie not only provides fiber, it can also serve as a substitute for white rice. Just shred or whirl in a food processor until it resembles rice, then sauté with a little olive oil until tender. 10. Soy. Eating soybeans and foods made from them, such as soy milk, tofu, and tempeh, was once touted as a powerful way to lower cholesterol. More recent analyses showed the effect is modest, at best. Still, protein-rich, soy-based foods are a far healthier choice than a hamburger or other red meat.

11.01.2022 Sometimes we just make our lives too complicated.

08.01.2022 New Years is a big full stop that allows us to reset. Forgive ourselves and others for errors and develop awareness of moving forward with renewed optimism and sensitivity to our intentions. Meditation is similar, except we reset every moment and dont wait for an abitrary date or time. May you be well and happy.

02.01.2022 I have analaysed the current situation. In my opinion the virus is not that big a problem. However due to the sheer numbers of infections it will overwhelm our health system. Sum of us will die. If we can slow the rate of infection through self isolation and infection control, many more will live as our hospitals will cope better with a broader time spread of the presentation. We shouldnt argue and fight. We need to work co-operatively to solve food and supply problems. Dont panic as it depresses our immune system. Stay connected via technology and offer love and emotional support. Give thanks to Drs and nurses on the front line. They are the heros of the moment. If you feel afraid or have anxiety around this you are welcome to talk it through with me. See you all on the other side of the pandemic.
