23.01.2022 So after many a sleepless night and going back and forth. I’ve decided, after 8 fantastic years of family daycare to move onto much bigger and better things. I’m staying in Childcare- going to a centre part time. but also working on something regarding to sensory play adventure but till then I’m going to be setting up a page for me to destash all my family daycare stuff. I can’t believe how much I’ve accumulated over the time. You don’t realise till you start taking a...ll out. It’s never looked so bare down in my rumpus room. Charlie loves it cause he’ll get the pool table back. My husband is ecstatic that he gets his house back, Regan will miss having friends to play with, but loves not having to share her toys. I’m sad to be leaving something I’ve been doing for such a long time and loved doing but it’s time to move on. Who knows maybe down the track I may come back to Family Daycare, just don’t tell my husband lol. 21.01.2022 HEALTH ALERT FOR THE SNOWY MOUNTAINS: Babies and young adults in Jindabyne, Perisher, Canberra and Sydney are at risk of developing measles, after a child trave...lling from overseas was diagnosed with the condition. Symptoms include a cough, sore eyes and rash. Dr Vicky Shepherd says measles is highly infectious... "If you were in those locations you should be alert to symptoms anywhere up to the 6th of September, it's really too late at this stage to have an effective vaccine if you were exposed." 21.01.2022 "I just realized something about responses to sensory overload/overstimulation and how autistic people are criticized often for the stims we use to manage that.... Some of my coworkers were talking about hot sauce and hot-pepper-eating contests. They pulled up a video of a popular YouTube host who apparently does this kind of thing all the time. (Everyone has a hobby, I guess?) After eating the very hot peppers, several people began hopping up and down, grimacing, flapping their hands (sometimes near their mouth, but not always), pacing around in small circles, and making various non-word sounds in response to the overwhelming sensory experience of the pepper. Sound familiar? If these responses to one kind of sensory overstimulation are normal, why are they weird and wrong when an autistic person does them in response to a loud sound or bright lights or any other sensory experience that is overwhelming for them?" -Kim Goddard

06.01.2022 Ok so since leaving FDC I’ve been doing casual shifts at a wonderful centre but with the corona virus I’m the first to go... All good cause now I get to spend 24hours with my children homeschooling- yeah 4 days in I’m ready to quit I’ve declared a pupil free day today and for the rest of term, hows everyone else going. ... Seriously though I have a 7 year old who shares my love of all things craft and science. She loves nothing better than mixing half the ingredients of my cupboard into a bowl, mix it and then has the audacity lol to say I’m doing a science experiment I tell my husband that it will serve her well when she’s a scientist, but after the fiftieth time it’s starting to wear very thin. So as Regan loves watching all these perfect videos of people making all these perfect crafts that go perfectly well, ive decided to do some crafts and science experients like the true childcare educator experiences with all the mess and Mahem that it intails. So I think we’ll start with an all time favourite- play dough So what kind of things would you like to see?
