18.01.2022 Lots of love to share to our ‘part time’ Allied Health team: Hannah the dietician, Jessie the Psychologist (provisional), Michelle the Physiotherapist, Sandra the Family Therapist and Trina our Therapy Assistant. With the exception of Trina, these guys only joined our team this year - and my what incredible changes they have made to our support! They help to make our support team whole, and help us really know how to help them. Thank you so much for joining our little team, we will be forever grateful for having you guys with us!! Xxx
17.01.2022 Dietician Hannah is here Thursday and Friday THIS week! Hannah is a very experienced Dietician from Perth Children's Hospital, and visits us each school holidays to see clients both privately and through NDIS funding. There are still some spots available, please call (08) 97917898 if you'd like dietetic support without needing to travel to Perth for it.
13.01.2022 Introducing Clinical Psychologist Deb! Debra is a Clinical Psychologist who will be joining us as of 17th February (and we are SO excited!). She has a Masters of Psychology, with a Specialisation in Clinical Psychology. Deb has spent the past 8 years working for the Department of Communities: Child Protection and Family Support. Within this role she has been required to provide psychological assessment and intervention to children, families and involved stakeholders to suppor...t children within Child Protection’s care. Deb is trained in the Circle of Security Parent Program, psycho-education, Mindful Awareness Parenting, Life Story Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Attachment and Trauma-based models. Deb has extensive experience working with clients and families to investigate behavioural concerns and trauma and is looking forward to extending this experience to a caseload more focused on clients with disabilities (as well as also maintaining a small caseload of clients who do not have a diagnosed disability). Deb will be working with the whole ‘team around the child’ to make meaningful impacts for our clients: and so will have an active involvement with the client, the family, school supports and any other external supports that may be involved with each client. You will be able to access Deb's brilliant expertise through NDIS, HCWA/Better Start, Medicare/Mental Health Care plans, Better Access plans, and Private Health. Welcome to Deb! See more

12.01.2022 Hi Everyone! I have now completed my last placement and it is coming up to my next one. This placement is different from my last and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out again! I am so thankful for the wonderful families who contacted me and helped me last time. For this placement, I am looking for 4 children aged between 3 and 13 to engage in a 10-week block of humanistic play therapy. In short, this style of therapy assists children to work throug...h events in their life that they may be having trouble moving on from or working through. ( I am happy to offer more of an explanation if you want to know please email me!!!). Some examples of children who this style of play therapy suits includes the following, however, is not limited to: - a child who experiences poor self-esteem - negative behaviours socially and emotionally with minimal triggers - a child who has experienced bereavement of a loved one or family pet - a sibling of a child who has additional needs - a child that has been involved in a single incident trauma, for example, medical trauma or a car accident. There is an expectation the child will have a basic understanding of play to engage in humanistic style play therapy. I am engaging in placement on Monday's beginning the middle of February and is likely to be in school hours. If you have any questions or are interested in helping me out please contact me via email [email protected]
12.01.2022 Another very simple visual schedule that may help some kids with school preparation This was created by our OT Megan, however you can also make this at home with a laminator and printer!
11.01.2022 A fantastic effort to help! Amazing Xx https://www.facebook.com/groups/arfsncrafts/permalink/2926546274064582/
09.01.2022 9 days until Christmas! We had our Christmas party on the weekend, and it was so nice to celebrate a busy year with everyone I wanted to send a huge thanks to Market Eating House for their Christmas catering, the food was amazing!!! Everything was so fresh, it was so easy to organise and even vegan was well catered for. We’ll be doing this again most definitely! Thank you Bec and team at Market Eating House
08.01.2022 Thought I would share a success story from our fellow friends at Down South Therapy Services with video conferencing based therapy - so many therapists are trialling it now and with great success! https://www.facebook.com/120224894720736/posts/2957585387651325/
07.01.2022 Next on the chopping block is a huge amount of thanks to our Occupational Therapists - Rohee, Megan and Emma! With NDIS opening so many more doors for many of our lovely clients, the complexity of the work that our amazing OTs have been doing this year has really risen, and you guys have just been helping families in such incredible ways. We love you! We are excited to see what the new year will bring our families with Rohee completing her Diploma of Play Therapy and Emma returning to us from Mat leave (not quite yet though!!) Merriest of Christmas to you guys, and thank you so much for everything that you’ve done for our families and our team xx
06.01.2022 It’s Christmas soon, and that means more Elf videos!! First is spreading thanks and love to our team of Speechies: Jo, Nicola, Sophie and our newest recruit Caitlin These guys truly go above and beyond for their kids, and together have some incredible skills that they offer our team. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas guys, and thank you for all of the hard work that you’ve done for us and the kids this year xxx
06.01.2022 PREPARATION FOR SCHOOL My eldest is off to Kindy on Monday and is a little anxious, so I’m practising what we preach at Stepping Stones! Grab a laminator and Velcro dots from Kmart/officeworks if you don’t have them, and use google images for the pictures - no need for boardmaker/compix if you don’t have that software. We’ve started counting down until Monday (first day of kindy), and then we’ll move to the routine of re-doing the schedule every Sunday. Visual schedules are great for almost every child who might be feeling a bit anxious throughout their week.
05.01.2022 These are certainly very interesting times! If you are thinking about self-quarantining your family, interested in how to prepare if there is a quarantine, or even just extended time away from school - here are some ideas of how we can provide support to your family.

02.01.2022 Our last ‘team within the team’, all of our amazing admin support: Kat, Jayne, Adele and Macy You ladies are the glue that binds our glitter: we would be lost without you! Not only do we absolutely appreciate everything that you do for the therapists, but the families so love saying hello to your happy faces as they come into our office! Thank you so much for keeping us all together, and helping us navigate this crazy NDIS process
