21.01.2022 We were so inspired by a lovely letter we had recently been sent by a friend who moved away during Covid. When sharing with the children they were thrilled with the idea of sharing a drawing of their own with someone they hadn’t seen in a while too ! #penpalsrback #learningthroughplay #learninggrattitude

20.01.2022 Supporting children developing the skill of pouring and in the process of developing and mastering their pouring skills, they will most likely have a few spill-overs along the way. However, in order for young children to master their ability to pourthey first need to be given ample opportunities to practice. During the warmer months of spring we have set up a pouring station for children to revisit daily. This supports the development of many other skills including, spaces awareness, hand eye coordination and self regulation, as they become aware that they make decisions whether to stop or or start pouring and their decisions result in natural consequences. #learningthroughplay #learningisdoing #pouringtechnique #selfhelp #childrensagency

19.01.2022 Supporting a very important cause for the month of October We Think PINK !! 16.01.2022 What better time than spring to explore senses in the sandpit, it’s all about children having fun and exploring the world around them. The use of sensory play can assist children with touching, smelling and playing with the texture in an environment with little expectation. As the child develops trust and understanding of this texture it helps build positive pathways in the brain to say it is safe to engage with different medium. #sensoryplay #learningthroughplay ##handsonlearning #learningthroughthesenses

12.01.2022 Children do not just play to pass time; it is a way of expressing ideas and feelings in the context of what is currently happening in their life and in society. #learningthroughplay #learningthroughnature

06.01.2022 Our newest addition to our staff room walls, NQS educator wellbeing posters. Well-supported educators and staff are critical to quality education and care and outcomes for children, families and communities across Australia. When approved providers and service leaders focus on the wellbeing of their team, they can influence the confidence of all involved. #acecqa #acecqaqualitysupportprogram #staffwellbeingmatters

05.01.2022 Why is Book Week so important to all our Educators at Stepping Stones ? The learning opportunities are endless however, reading stories with children has benefits for BIG people too. The special time you spend reading together promotes bonding and helps to build beautiful relationships with each and every little person that listens. #bookweek2020 #sharingstories #sharingmemories

04.01.2022 Let’s Talk Ocean Pollution! This week as a follow on from our Antarctic Ocean small world play, one of our staff who is a passionate environmentalist explored pollutions and plastics found in the ocean with the children. Much of our unwanted plastic ends up in the ocean around 8 million tonnes of it every year, in fact! And because plastic takes 400 years to break down, it stays there for a long, long time, putting our friends beneath the waves in serious danger. Using a...n iPad to display some imagery of pollution in the ocean and it’s effects, she facilitated a hands on clean up the ocean experience. The children added the pollution during a discussion, then worked together to remove all the plastic and clean up the animals. An environmentally aware mentality starts at any age. Do you choose to reuse ? #learningthroughplay #replayreuserecycle #futureenviromental See more

04.01.2022 When our daisy bush is in full bloom it is our time to remember the wonderful work of the @littlelegsfoundation xxxx

03.01.2022 Who said hanging art had to be on walls ??? Inspired by a book recently donated for our Atelier displaying the works of Michael Angelo and other Renaissance artists. This week we hung the children’s recent recycled box collaborative art pieces with a less traditional approach, we hung it from the ceiling in our Atelier ! Looks scratchy I can see a horse I can see lots of colours just some of the comments from the children. Looking at art from different angles gives different perspective. #learningthroughplay #throughadifferentlense

01.01.2022 A very thoughtful family gifted us a box of silkworms, as they eat mulberry leaves and we don’t have a tree we put out a call to our community for HELP !!! Incredibly our neighbour who is a parent of the centre answered our message as they have a HUGE tree in their backyard. They were nice enough to leave there side gate open and let us come in and pick the leaves we needed. It was so nice to have a stroll even if it wasn’t far back in our community again after so long. #ourcommunitycares #takesavillagetoraiseachild #parentinputmatters #gettingbackoutintothecommunity
