20.01.2022 Looking to connect with some like-minded steppers on Sunday morning? Why not head along to Jacob's Ladder Perth! 5-time Step Up for MSWA Champion, Anthony Sciano, will be there between 7am and 9am, attempting as many climbs as he can. 20.01.2022 Last week we introduced you to the Nidd Family - Shanae, Russell, Leo & Ella They had planned to tackle the Manjimup Heritage Timber Park Slide staircase - and, we're very, very pleased to let you know that they conquered the stairs together on Sunday! Shanae & Russell climbed up and down the staircase 6 times, to achieve the 1,103 stairs that they would have climbed at Central Park Perth. A HUGE effort! (Leo & Ella joined them for the first climb, before retiring ...to the nearby playground ) Shanae said " 5 , 1,103 ! 14 ." A massive congratulations to Shanae & Russell for conquering their chosen stair climbing challenge - they're both absolute legends! We cannot wait to see them cross the finish line on the roof of Central Park Perth in 2021!

20.01.2022 #TrainingTipTuesday To help you prepare for your personal stair climbing challenge on Sunday, we thought that we'd share some tips from 5-time Step Up for MSWA Champion, Anthony Sciano! " & Eat whatever suits your body best - however, keep your larger meal until after you've finished your stair climbing challenge. The key is to maximise power to weight when going up stairs, and ensuring you are as nimble as possible.... The stair handrail is incredibly effective to help reduce the stress and workload of your legs (especially when your legs are fatiguing). Engage the upper body for some assistance. Social media is a great platform to share your stair climbing challenge. Remember, when all is said and done, we are all doing our part to support MSWA, so let's share that journey together."

19.01.2022 While we cannot all be together at Central Park Perth for this year's Step Up for MSWA, there's no reason that we can't all still share in our love of stair climbing. So, we're asking you to conquer a stair climbing challenge on the original event date - Sunday, 21 June. And, it's completely up to you how you choose to take on the challenge! With popular staircases around Perth now re-opened, you can conquer your favourite stairs as many times as you like. Don't have acces...s to stairs? No worries! Based on advice from our friends at Stair Climbing Australia, we've converted the original event step count for our different categories into walking steps and also step up's. So, you can stay close to home - or, head out and explore our beautiful state. We'll be sharing more details over the coming days, so stay tuned for updates!

14.01.2022 While we're all staying home to protect our communities, we thought that we'd start #BringingTheStairsToYou We'll be sharing challenging stair cases from around the world for you to marvel at, as well as sharing inspirational stories of the climbers who have conquered them! And, today we're starting with a set of stairs in Florli, Norway. Florli is home to the longest wooden stair case in the world, and has a HUGE 4,444 steps! You can only access the stairs via ferry, and it's estimated to take between three to four hours to climb all the way to the top of the mountain - with some very, very steep sections.

08.01.2022 In our second installment of #BringingTheStairsToYou we're excited to introduce you to stepper Kaye Robinson. In 2019, Kaye was ranked #14 in Stair Climbing Australia's national women's rankings - and, was the only WA representative on the list! While Kaye loves participating in Step Up for MSWA and enjoys the atmosphere at Central Park Perth, she notes that her best stair-climbing accomplishments were both in the US. The tallest building that she's ever climbed is the Wil...lis Tower in Chicago, which is 105 floors/2,115 steps and one of the tallest indoor stair climbs in the world! While she's also climbed the Empire State Building, which is 86 floors/1,576 steps and one of the oldest stair-climbing challenges in the world. Thanks for sharing your stair-climbing adventures with us Kaye! See more

06.01.2022 #SupporterSpotlight Today, we'd like to introduce you to the Nidd Family - Shanae, her husband Russell and their two children Leo & Ella Shanae was diagnosed with MS in 2006 at just 19 years of age. Her journey since then, has been extremely up and down, from day-to-day and week-to-week, struggling with fatigue, pain and pins and needles.... However, Shanae hasn't let her diagnosis stop her, and she stays active with the help and support of her (self-confessed) fitness-fanatic husband Both Shanae & Russell were set to tackle the 1,103 stairs to the top of Central Park Perth this year, with Shanae setting the stair climb as a personal challenge - the original event date was just a couple of days before the 14th anniversary of her MS diagnosis While they were devastated to learn that the 2020 event had been cancelled, they'll still be taking on a stair climbing challenge this Sunday. Together as a family, they'll be climbing the Manjimup Heritage Timber Park Slide staircase. And, we cannot wait to hear (and see) how they go!

06.01.2022 Over the next few days, we'll be sharing the personal stair climbing challenges taken on by a couple of our dedicated steppers. They weren't able to conquer Central Park Perth this year, but they didn't let that stop them! First up, Anthony Sciano and Colin Ottaway The guys headed to Jacob's Ladder Perth together yesterday, and put in an enormous effort! They climbed the 242 stairs of Jacob's a MASSIVE 25 times (in just an hour and a half). That's 6,050 stairs! ... 03.01.2022 Following on from our previous postponement announcement, we have now made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Step Up for MSWA. After comprehensive reviews and considerations, taking into account Federal and WA State Government guidelines around social distancing, large group gatherings and best hygiene practices, the decision was made to cancel this year's event. The entire team at MSWA HQ are incredibly disappointed and saddened that the event will not be g...oing ahead this year. And, we know that you will share in that sense of disappointment with us. Together, we're a strong and passionate community, united in helping to support the thousands of Western Australians living with all neurological conditions (and our love of stair climbing!) We are ready to make the 2021 Step Up for MSWA even bigger and better, and look forward to seeing you there.
