23.01.2022 As we come towards the end of the year, we celebrate the achievements of our students and the partnerships they have formed with their teachers. Sam, Year 12, alongside his furnishing teacher, Darren Paten. Woodworking gives our students more than just a career pathway it provides them with a lifelong hobby, an outlet for creativity, escapism from the realities of the world. Nothing is more therapeutic than taking a raw piece of wood and meticulously crafting it into a piec...e of beauty. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the sense of joy and accomplishment on our students faces when they put the finishing touches on their projects. In a world where mental health is at the fore, woodworking increases serotonin, boosting happiness while both the right brain and left brain computes measurements and engages in creative thinking. We strive to give our students authentic pathways while nurturing their soul, encapsulated by this photo of Sam and Darren. Scott Letts Curriculum Leader: Technologies
