21.01.2022 You'll not be able to see this image unless you open it. It's very wide because the original is a stitched image from 13 photos, measuring some 26,000 pixels wide. That's 8 to 12 computer screens for most LCD monitors. I've played with this technology a number of times, using it for shop internal panoramas and streetscapes. This was taken just before the fireworks, and I didn't have enough time to get the level calibrated 100 percent correct, but you can get the drift of what's possible for a huge display board. #stevebarnesphotography Lake Wendouree #panorama

21.01.2022 You may know I run Four Foot Fotos pet photography in Ballarat. I was so pleased when my wife brought home a copy of The Courier last night. Michelle was very complimentary in her online article* and this print version. My thanks to Adam from The Courier for the photography - it was an experience being on the other side of the camera! And Wilberforce? I think he knew something special was happening. Hes now a Doggy Star! * https://www.thecourier.com.au//tails-wag-for-photo-shoots-

17.01.2022 Yesterday we took Raina down to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens for some nice photographs against natural colours and beautiful flowers. She was so well behaved!... As we arrived there were two cars out the front of Pipers by the Lake for a wedding. One was a Chrysler stretch limo, the other an amazingly restored 50s Oldsmobile. I had a nice chat to the owners, and the "Olds" owner let us take a few photographs in front of his car. Seeing this is a 50s car, I thought Id try some black and white treatment. Do you like it? #fourfootfotos #Ballarat The Courier #dogphotographer

17.01.2022 What is it about jettys that we love so much? Some of my best loved photographs from Ballarat have featured the jetties on our Lake Wendouree. This particular shot is from New Zealand. Its of a lake near St Arnaud on the South Island. I took it in 2005. Its been much loved in many photographic communities. Is Ballarats Lake Wendouree its equal? Ballarat doesnt snow very much, but we have some fantastic sights around the lake, beautiful cloud formations and spectacular sunsets. Did you see my Marbled Sky and Hand Of God photographs back at Easter? Enjoy this photograph. Enjoy the ones I post of our lake too.

16.01.2022 Some lovely floral photographs of the display in the pond thats on the right hand side of the gardens as you walk from Wendouree Parade into the gardens. Ballarat Arts Alive

16.01.2022 More images from the Ballarat Begonia Parade for 2019 yesterday. Although light rain persisted for some time during the parade, it wasnt bad enough to disrupt the parade or discourage the crowd.

14.01.2022 Sunsets change by the moment. Each minute sees something new in one direction or another as the sun slowly descends. See the other images Ive posted the past 3 days and youll be amazed at how the sky changed! These astounding pink and gold highlights over a deep slate coloured sky were taken at 6:12pm, when the sunset was deepening. It was remarkable to see these colours creeping in when the sky had been so radically different just minutes before. Enjoy!... 12.01.2022 Oh the astounding, breath-taking beauty of our Lake Wendouree. It never ceases to amaze me. I saw the gorgeous colour developing late this afternoon when on the way home from the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, so rich at that time of day, lighting up the landscape. So after arriving home with the family I promptly went out the door with my photography gear. This photograph was taken at 5 minutes to 6 oclock - just before the light began to dim and the real sunset show commence...d. The buildings on the left are the rowing clubs, with the Boatshed Restaurant at the right. What I saw as the night came on was an absolute treat. In all, the sky was amazing from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. It was like God was putting on a penultimate show right here on our Lake Wendouree! I have more astounding images from this incredible light show to share over the next few days, so stay tuned. Enjoy! 11.01.2022 Its often the mid to end of a sunset that give the most glorious colours. It takes more skill to capture the dying rays of a sunset, but they can be spectacular. If you compare this image to the one I first posted in this series, youll see the orange is concentrated nearer the horizon now. The intense deep blue often appears when we leave our shutter open for over 30 seconds as the sun is waning and the camera is able to soak up that deep colour. See the other images Ive ...posted the past 3 days and youll be amazed at how the sky changed! This intensely coloured photograph was taken at 6:24pm, right at the end of the sunset. It was my last image of the night; and what a night!!! What a privilege it was to see the sky painted by the hand of God! Thats what the wonderful sky show made me think. It was one of the best sunset progressions Ive ever seen. Enjoy! 11.01.2022 Its amazing the way the light on the landscape changes as you pan across a sunset scene. The previous photograph was taken at 5:53 last night. This one was taken nearly four minutes later at 5:56. The difference in light is because of the way the sun was playing on the water! Dont you love the blue, gold and red colours that got mixed into the sky here? I sure do! Moments after this, the sky went an amazing marbled effect, which Ill share soon. 08.01.2022 Beautiful Lake Wendouree "Resplendent in Pink" at Ballarat, Australia. Our amazing lake has given me so many wonderful sunset photographs over the past three years, including my "Hand Of God" series on Easter Friday Eve. The variety of luminance and colour I see never ceases to amaze me, and has provided enjoyment to many thousands of viewers. Enjoy, and please share with your friends. #Ballarat #sunset #sunsetphotograph #landscapephotograph

08.01.2022 It was wild and windy as the sun went down on Lake Wendouree tonight! I took my camera out on the jetty, planted firmly on a strong tripod, to capture some of the action. The spray was really hitting the jetty, me and my gear! Heres one shot with water on my lens, which as a good metre above water level. Heres to the moods of Lake Wendouree! Theres always something new to savour and enjoy :-)

07.01.2022 We had a fabulous night at the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) Awards Dinner last night. It was great to hear heart warming stories of what special midwives are doing in and for our communities. Heres the first image from the night; more coming soon!

07.01.2022 It was fireworks night last night at Lake Wendouree, Ballarat for Australia Day celebrations. As the night closed in, the lake showed a bit of colour. I captured these two photographs before the night sky darkened and the fireworks began. #stevebarnesphotography #ballarat #beautifulballarat #fireworks #AusrtaliaDay

This has the same boat-sheds as the previous image, but was taken from the base of the jetty (rather than the head) and on a slightly different angle, some sixteen minutes later. 03.01.2022 This was me three years ago, trying to get a Ballarat Historical Portraits service up and going at the Tramway Museum. There unfortunately wasnt enough traction to make it viable, but it was fun and we got some gorgeous portraits! You can see these portraits, along with photographs from the filming of the Doctor Blake Mysteries in Ballarat and the Abbey Historical Festival in Caboolture, Queensland at https://steve-barnes-photography.viewbug.com/portraits. #Ballarat #TheBallaratPhotographer #SteveBarnesPhotography

02.01.2022 Dusk is settling over the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, and a lovely glow brings out the colours. Flowers lead to the glorious rotunda. I think this is one of may favourite shots of the rotunda. Available in print from Steve Barnes Photography

02.01.2022 Australia Day at Lake Wendouree, Ballarat. Night had closed in, but the fireworks had not yet begun. This was taken hand-held with shutter open for about a minute. The lights at the far side of the lake drew the patterns! #stevebarnesphotography #Ballarat #LakeWendouree Ballarat Arts Alive Ballarat & District Information Pinboard
