17.01.2022 Clients are always asking what shoe I recommend they run in. Unfortunately there are too many variables to just say go with a Nike or Asics shoe etc. What I would recommend is the following: 1) If changing shoe type from a very supportive shoe to a more minimalist shoe, make the changes along the shoe types smaller. Go slowly through 2-3 pairs before making that transition. 2) The shoe needs to be comfortable, if your feet don’t like it,you will not simply get used to it or ...adapt to it etc. 3)Don’t commit yourself to a certain brand or shoe type. 4) It’s only time to get a new shoe when they are not longer comfortable and have lost their responsiveness (spring). #shirefitness#shirephysio#gymeaphysio See more

05.01.2022 The following article looks at a new study of the increasing number of ACL injuries within the Australian population, particularly young athletes. The higher rates are attributed to earlier specialisation in younger athletes, longer sporting seasons, more intense training and lack of free play. The study also found the following:... -The average cost for ACL reconstruction = $8364. - In the long term, almost all individuals who tear an ACL are at increased risk of osteoarthritis and disability. - Prevention is key! Neuromuscular agility programs (look up FIFA 11+) can stave of 50-80% of ACL injury.

05.01.2022 This is a patients grade two hamstring injury. He tweaked his hamstring a month ago, it got better, he returned to sport and re-injured. Had he have seen a physio, he would have been educated that whilst it felt good, the muscle simply was not strong enough. Rule of thumb, how ever many days of pain in the hamstring with walking= how many weeks off running... let alone a return to sport.
