24.01.2022 They tell me you can wear a face mask and look fashionable at the same time. This is one of the limited release masks that South Australian manufacturer Detomold Group has made - perfect for Australia Day. The local family business has already made 70 million masks since the pandemic began and has employed an extra 300 workers.... 22.01.2022 From this Monday, country South Australians will have access to a fairer, more compassionate Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS) We're supporting South Australians who have no choice but to travel long distances to Adelaide to receive specialist medical care. There will be five improvements to PATS:... 1 When patients undertake an emergency retrieval, eligible family members/carers will be subsidised to travel separately (e.g. a child is evacuated on a plane and a parent drives to Adelaide) 2 Airbnb stays (and similar platforms) will become eligible commercial accommodation options 3 The actual treatment location will be used to calculate the fuel subsidy (rather than to the Adelaide GPO) 4 Patients will be reimbursed an additional part land subsidy for travel over 100kms to reach their nearest airport, when medically authorised for air travel (only the airfare has been subsidised previously) 5 Parents/carers will be able to work interstate, when supporting a patient who has travelled interstate due to treatment not being available locally (e.g. a child receiving a transplant interstate). These changes introduce more flexibility, common sense and compassion to the way patient transport subsidies are granted. #RegionsMatter

17.01.2022 Norma Faulkner found out she had cancer just after Christmas Day last year. Her home at Angas Valley was 85 kilometres away from treatment at the Royal Adelaide Hosptial. But thanks to the Cancer Council SA Lodge, she was given a home away from home during her brave battle with the disease. ... We want to ensure more people like Norma can continue to recieve the care they need when they're away from home, and that's why we’re contributing towards a new 120-room lodge that will provide modern facilities for generations to come.

16.01.2022 Ahead of National Road Safety Week, the State Government and SAPOL has issued a stern warning to hoon drivers and those who are careless behind the wheel. These vehicles once belonged to convicted hoon drivers. Behave the same and your car could be next. Sadly, this is what it takes to make some drivers realise their actions on South Australian roads have irreversible and tragic consequences.... Whether you are driving for work, visiting friends, picking up children or heading off on holiday, lead the way and make our roads a safer place for all.

15.01.2022 ICYMI: single-use plastics will be banned in SA from 1 March 2021. We're proud to be the first state in Australia to take this step and replace the waste with environmentally-friendly alternatives. Watch to find out more about our ground-breaking legislation.

14.01.2022 I know the past few weeks have been challenging for many South Australians. From day one we have been clear that we do not want any restrictions in place for one day longer than they need to be. So I’m pleased to confirm that on Tuesday, December 1, restrictions in South Australia will be easing.... These changes will only be in place for 2 weeks as we chart our course towards Christmas. The South Australian border restrictions with Victoria will be lifted completely from Tuesday, 1 December. I know this will be a huge relief to many families, business and communities as we head into the holiday season. But I continue to stress this point: we can and we must continue to act on the unequivocal health advice to keep SA safe and strong. I am so proud that we have worked together to beat this silent enemy, and to get through this united.

04.01.2022 The ballot for the Christmas Pageant is now OPEN. Here's what you need to know to register for tickets

04.01.2022 After a year of unprecedented challenges, it is especially important that we can come together to celebrate Christmas with family and friends. I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to every South Australian who has followed the expert health advice and worked with us to keep our state safe and strong. Because of this, many of us will be able to spend the festive season with loved ones. ... While the evolving situation in New South Wales will prevent some families from gathering together, we won’t keep border restrictions in place one day longer than they need to be. Please remember to support our local businesses and take some time to explore the vast beauty of our wonderful state. Have a safe and Merry Christmas

03.01.2022 253 days apart from our family and friends in Victoria ends at midnight TONIGHT. It’s been a long time coming and I acknowledge that it hasn’t been an easy 8 months for those divided by our borders. But from the moment this pandemic started, we have taken the advice of our health experts to keep the people of South Australia safe and strong. ... I wish everyone reuniting with loved ones a safe and happy reunion.

02.01.2022 While most countries and states have slowed down during the global pandemic, South Australia has kept moving. We're accelerating our economic recovery with the biggest hit of economic adrenaline in our state’s history. More people in jobs, more businesses with their lights on and building more of what matters to you.

02.01.2022 Today we've announced that from 1 December, our border restrictions with Victoria will be removed. Our borders have helped to keep SA safe and strong, however we have always said we would act swiftly on the expert health advice to remove them as soon as it was safe to do so. I acknowledge how difficult this period has been for many people particularly those who have been separated from their loved ones.... The reopening of the border will see families reunited and it will help stimulate our economy, boost tourism and create jobs. Finally, the return of standing hospitality is imminent with SA Health working extremely hard to have a government contact tracing check-in system up and running. Certain businesses will need to use the new system. This includes pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes and other licensed venues. Once it's available and businesses have implemented it, standing hospitality inside and outside will be allowed to resume immediately. Another update regarding changes to other restrictions that remain in place is expected after the Transition Committee meets next Tuesday 17 November. I'd like to thank all South Australians for the sacrifices you have made in this unprecedented year.

02.01.2022 There have been two new cases of COVID-19 today, both linked to the Parafield Cluster. Today’s cases are a child, who is a member of the original family linked to the cluster, and a man in his 30s, who is a casual contact of a previous case. Both cases have been in home quarantine. If you have symptoms, even if mild, get tested immediately.... Stay home while you wait for your results. Wash/sanitise your hands regularly. Keep 1.5m distance from others wherever possible. Clean frequently touched surfaces. SA COVID-19 Information Line 1800 253 787 SA COVID-19 Mental Health Support Line 1800 632 753
