24.01.2022 Just a few reasons why you should Vote 1 Steven Purcell for Division 2 today. Ipswich needs a fresh start, and a new council to move our city forward. As an independent candidate, local small business owner, dedicated community volunteer, and Camira resident of 40 years, I bring a wealth of experience, local knowledge, and passion for our community. Thank you to all my volunteers and supporters.

18.01.2022 The need to provide food and water security for our community has never been so apparent. Unpredictable food supplies and ongoing drought demands that we protect local food and water resources, and build local supply chains. If elected I want to establish a local urban food and water project to plan for long term food and water security for Ipswich. Vertical farming centres which use less water, and support local fresh food markets. Community garden projects involving schools and local community groups Water saving education, and planning measures including incentives for water tanks in new and existing homes

18.01.2022 Please take the time to look at the locations visited by the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our local area. A COVID clinic has now been setup in Springfield, and Queensland Health have issued a notice for anyone with symptoms to be tested. Stay safe, remain calm and continue to follow the hygiene and social distancing recommendations and help prevent further spread.

14.01.2022 We have an opportunity, and a responsibility to eliminate the corruption and poor governance issues within Ipswich City Council. The administrator has implemented some important changes following operation Windage, and it is vital that we elect a new council who acknowledge and understand the problems within the former council, and who are committed to transparency, integrity, and good governance for the benefit of all the residents of Ipswich. To build upon the recommendati...ons of operation Windage I would like to see an ongoing process of review and process improvement to ensure we never see a repeat of past mistakes. Some changes I would like to see implemented include : Recording and public broadcasting of all council meetings Stronger penalties for councillors or staff found guilty of corruption Ongoing reviews of planning decisions relating to former councillors, and were appropriate the reassignment of council staff to ensure independence and transparency of decision making Public register of council owned buildings and assets, and associated agreements Enhanced tender and procurement processes See more

13.01.2022 Our local food bank will be opening soon, and will allow pensioners and vulnerable families access to discounted food and essentials which can be paid through Centrelink benefits. No one in our community will go hungry. If you know someone who needs help please pass on this message and invite them to the group. Pensioner registrations will be open soon.

10.01.2022 Welcome back Constable Peter McAuley to the Goodna Police Station.

08.01.2022 With 20% of our division votes counted it’s still to early to declare. It has been a unique and challenging election, and I thank everyone who came out to vote, and the ECQ staff and volunteers for going the extra mile to protect the public while ensuring our democracy remains intact. We can see a clear leader in the Mayoral race, and it is with great pleasure I congratulate Teresa Harding as our new Ipswich Mayor
