23.01.2022 This photo is inside the mouth of a 17yr old thoroughbred named "Goldie". Goldie has not been under saddle for a number of years and was not showing any signs of dental discomfort and was in top condition. Although this was the case, if Goldie had been bridled up and taken for a ride, it may not have been uneventful, as the "rostal hook" would have interfered with the bit and cheek ring. The owner did the right thing by getting Goldie consulted by an equine dentist, prior t...o commencing riding of Goldie, to ensure overall mouth comfort. The moral of the story is this. Even if your horse is showing no signs of dental problems, it is not an accurate indication that there is nothing underlying that could potentially lead to a catastrophic event.
