14.01.2022 This is Steve For those of you who are new on our page and don't already know Steve, we thought we should share a little bit about him. How long have you been a jeweller? 19 years... How did you get into the jewellery trade? My father has been a jeweller since 1956, he was 13 when he was offered a job and started handmaking chains. I always liked the idea of becoming a jeweller just like him, he has had a few jewellery stores in Melbourne including Bluestone Jewellers in Box Hill and Diamond Affaire in The Royal Arcade. I loved sitting next to him on the bench as a kid creating bits and pieces and officially started at the age of 18. (Now you know how old I am ) What is your favourite diamond shape? Round brilliant cut is definitely my favourite - a timeless classic. Favourite coloured gemstone? I love a lot! But I guess I would say a sapphire because there are many different colours and shades of sapphires. Favourite metal to work with? I love working with Platinum as it challenges me to get the ultimate finish that you could easily get from white gold. What have you been doing during ISO? Eating, spending valuable time with my family, eating some more and doing lots of work behind the scenes planning for the year ahead. What have clients been ordering during ISO? I have noticed a lot of people are actually ordering or purchasing for themselves, they might be "self reward" purchases for the crappy year that it has been! I have made myself a bracelet too. What do you miss most about not being able to open your doors to the public? I definitely miss chatting to my clients face to face and miss the hustle and bustle of the city. 05.01.2022 BESPOKE REMAKE Our client brought in her mums well loved engagement and wedding rings. She loved the original design and wanted them repaired. As you can see on the left, the rings had worn down so much that we weren't able to repair and restore them back to their original condition. So we suggested to remake them and to include all the original filigree details. A 3D CAD (computer aided design) was created which allowed us to get every original detail exactly as it was.
