24.01.2022 Amazing effort By Stewies House of BJJ this weekend!

24.01.2022 Hey crew thanks again for the amazing start to the week its been awesome! Let's keep the momentum going. It's going to be another massive night on the mat! Only 3 spots remaining for the 7.15pm Gi all levels class, let's go!

23.01.2022 Good news everyone. Provided there is no changes or community outbreaks and the government stays with these dates the following will apply. From 11:59pm on 21 June: ... Up to 10 people are allowed to participate in non-contact classes. Full contact for under 18s can resume and kids classes will resume July 14th after the school holidays with unlimited numbers. From July 13th full contact training can resume for adults. Spaces larger than 200 metres squared allow for multiple groups of 10. Unfortunately, our space is less than 200 metres squared. This means classes are restricted to 10 people at one time, further information will be added to the time table to reflect this. We don't want anyone to miss out. Facilities must also put in place measures to manage the movement of people through communal areas, such as change rooms, for example staggering class or session times. Currently martial arts can only be practiced where participants remain 1.5m apart. From 11:59pm on 21 June full-contact training and competitions may resume for people 18 years and under. From 13 July, adults can resume full contact martial arts including judo, karate, Brazilian jujitsu and taekwondo indoors, if you are in a group of no more than 10 people (not including the people required to lead the class) and the four square metre rule is met. Competitions can commence from 20 July. A time table will be put out shortly with some modifications to adhere to the 10 person rule. This will remain in place until restrictions ease further after July 13th. More to come. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise-restrictions

22.01.2022 To all members, friends and family, Jean Jacques Machado Jiu-Jitsu Melbourne will be closed as of today until Monday, March 30th, unless otherwise notified. We had planned to be creative in ways that would allow us to continue meeting and using the facility, however it has become apparent in the recent hours that in the best interest of everyones health and safety and the community abroad we cease activities. JJM Jiu-Jitsu Melbourne has become a second home for all our studen...ts and friends so I know we will all be disappointed. We understand and share the concern raised about the COVID 19. We have taken all necessary measures to prevent contamination at the academy and we are pleased that our members are currently all safe. In the meantime, we will be spending time delivering online resources to all members. We are here for the long term. As one member pointed out constraint breeds innovation and adversity build resilience, and we will get though this. Please continue to share your support. Kind regards, Ben

22.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely. We ask for your support during this time with many public events being closed and the flow on effect for many privately owned small businesses. Please get your information from legitimate government sources and adhere to our Jiu-Jitsu school hygiene policies. Wash your hands with water and soap regularly. We are aware JJ HQ has closed in Los Angeles. We will adhere to advice given to us by the Australian federal and state governments and at this stage we are open tomorrow. Stay calm please. Updates will come in due course. Regards, Ben.

21.01.2022 COVID-19 update: Currently, these restrictions apply for zones in Victoria outside the 10 postcodes, where restrictions were taken back to stage 3. Our club is located OUTSIDE these restricted areas. The following guidelines apply to JJM Melbourne as directed by https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exercise-restrictions ... "Can martial arts be practised? Currently, full-contact martial arts training and competitions may resume for people 18 years and under. From 13 July, subject to advice from the Chief Health Officer, adults can resume full-contact martial arts including judo, karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and taekwondo indoors if they are in a group of no more than 10 people (not including the person or people required to lead the class) and the four square metre rule is met. Further announcements on full-contact competition for adults will be made in July." We remain on track to re-open contact training with modified numbers until further notice. If you live in one of the restricted zones please contact [email protected] Regards, Ben

10.01.2022 To all our JJM Melbourne members, We regret to inform you that we have decided to suspend all kids classes until term 2 and will re-commence on Tuesday 14th of April. While we understand that the instances of COVID-19 are currently low within the community, we base this decision on the most readily available advice in an attempt to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We are taking every precaution to ensure all members of our club are kept safe and healthy. All parents will be co...ntacted directly regarding adjustment of fees and any changes regarding term 2 classes if required. As the situation is constantly evolving, we will continually update members if any further changes are to occur. Updates regarding adult classes will be provided in due course. Thank you for your understanding, we appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this time.

02.01.2022 Perception is a tricky thing. You’re probably not as terrible as you think you are. Your jiu jitsu probably doesn’t suck as much as you think it does. You are p...robably smarter and stronger than you think you are. People probably care about you more than you realize. There are more people who look up to you than you realize. You definitely have more potential than you realize. Try to think better of yourself. Chances are your perception of yourself is not as accurate as you may think. #atosjiujitsu #tatamifightwear #thegrapplersguide #hingertine #bjj #jiujitsu #grappling #wrestling #submission #hingerbjj #adcc #ibjjf #blackbelt #nogi #worldchampion #sandiego #mma #bjjlife #tatami #f2w #subonly #moskova #monkeytape #gnarlynutrition #cbdistillery #gymjones #atos See more

01.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: As per Stewies house of BJJ. We are trying to do the same and are making the same effort to ensure everyone's well being. These same rules apply to us. "We are closely monitoring the coronavirus situation, receiving advice from medical professionals in addition to staying across live updates from authorities. This is happening on a daily basis and rest assured that any decisions made in regards to limiting services provided at Stewie’s House of BJJ will be ba...sed on expert consensus, government recommendations, and in the best interest of all our members & friends. At this stage, Tuesday night classes will be as normal, however this may change within the next 24 hours. This is an ongoing, fluid situation that we will continue to monitor and provide updates as the situation evolves. It is quite possible that classes over the coming weeks may need to be cancelled at short notice. In order to keep our activities as safe as possible, there are some simple conditions we have introduced (there will be no exceptions to these): 1) Do not turn up to training if you’re feeling ill. This includes, runny nose, sore throat, fever, stomach pain, coughing etc. You will be politely asked to leave. 2) If your family members or house mates that you live with are ill, do not turn up to training. 3) Only clean training gear is acceptable, this includes clean training bags, shoes, thongs (Flip Flops) and any other clothing items. 4) Follow club hygiene practices at all times. The club is cleaned every day, mats mopped, benches wiped, touch points sprayed etc. We go to great lengths to provide a clean environment to train in. Without your assistance with this by following basic rules of hygiene, it reduces our ability to provide such an environment to train in. Hygiene is everyone’s responsibility!"

01.01.2022 Looking forward to our kickboxing padwork session tonight! Remember to bring your own gloves, towel and drink bottle! Bookings available online, see you on the mat!
