24.01.2022 Our job can change from day to day, it’s not always snakes. Today I was contacted by a concerned citizen who was with children at Altona Beach. In the past, I have relocated many snakes from the beach, but this time the call was for this blue ringed octopus. The octopus was stranded on a bit of seaweed in a little Rockpool right near the sand. The tide was out and there were lots of children around. He was concerned that some children might pick it up unknowingly. These guys ...are venomous and bites can be fatal. These guys are quite common in the area, although they are rarely spotted, as like most other wildlife, they feel threatened by us. I made a few calls to organise someone to relocate it to a safer spot away from children. Unfortunately, no one was available in such short notice. So I was given permission to move it 30m away off the sand and back into a deeper Rockpool. If you are out with your children, please be mindful of your surroundings. Have a chat with your children and explain to them the dangers of encountering any wildlife that may or may not be dangerous. If you are not sure, don’t touch it. If you need any advice, please don’t hesitate to ask. We will do our best to help. Contact us 24/7 on 0413277588, or 1300REPTILE. (1300737845). Stay safe guys. #stewysnakecatcher #1300reptile #blueringedoctopus #venomous #venom #danger #dangerous See more

21.01.2022 Starting to get really busy.

21.01.2022 7 pm and still 35 degrees outside. That means that snakes will be out and about all night once the sun disappears and the mercury starts to drop. Be mindful if you are out watering the garden, walking the dog or relaxing by the pool. Snakes will be in a nice shady spot escaping the extreme heat and then will emerge looking for water and a feed. If your dog is barking in the middle of the night, go out and check on it. It could be barking at a snake or a criminal. Either way..., it’s best to check. We are available right through the night to help relocate any snakes off your property. Call us 24/7 on 0413277588 or 1300REPTILE (1300737845). You can also check out our website at www.stewythesnakecatcher.com.au.

21.01.2022 If anyone has seen me out and about on snake calls, you will have noticed I haven’t been in the snake truck. That’s because it’s currently off the road whilst while it is being fitted out with all the lights, reverse camera and beepers, and power to the new canopy. Hopefully will be finished and back on the road tomorrow. Will have to wait at least 2 more weeks for the artwork to be printed as due to stage 4 restrictions, they aren’t allowed to operate. #stewysnakecatcher #1300reptile #snaketruck

20.01.2022 It’s currently 35 degrees out there and the snakes are all hiding in a cool shady place out of the sun. But, as soon as the temperature starts to drop, the snakes will start to emerge, looking for food and water. They will be active right throughout the night, so we are gearing up for a busy night. Remember, if you are out tonight enjoying the warmer evening, be aware of your surroundings. If you hear your dogs barking, please go out and check on them. They might be interacting with a snake, which could result in your dog being potentially bitten. My advice would be to keep your dogs inside tonight. We operate 24 hours, 7 days a week, so please don’t hesitate to call us if you see a snake on your property. Even if it’s at 1am! Hope everyone is staying safe. #stewysnakecatcher #1300reptile #snakecatcher #snakecatchers #snakecatching

18.01.2022 Seems to be a day for eastern browns today. These photos were sent to me for an ID today. This eastern brown snake was sunning himself on the front deck of this house on Hindmarsh Drive, Manor Lakes. The snake then slithered off towards the park before disappearing out of view. We didn’t attend this call out as the snake relocated its self. Please be mindful as they are out in force at the moment enjoying the warmer weather. 4 browns and 2 tigers from today’s call outs so far. Stay safe and if you see a snake, give us a call on 0413277588 or 1300REPTILE (1300737845).

18.01.2022 Today we attended a house in Darley, near Bacchus Marsh. We were told that there was a 1.4m brown snake located somewhere inside the residents house. After a quick search, the snake was located and safely caught. Afterwards, we had time to admire the beautiful views that the property had to offer. It was truly amazing. #stewysnakecatcher #1300reptile #snakecatcher #snakecatchers #snakecatching #reptilerelocationandawareness #easternbrownsnake #pseudonajatextilis

15.01.2022 Congratulations to Vickey Bell for spotting me in Werribee. You are now in the draw.

15.01.2022 1:30 am. 20 call outs today. Not my biggest day, that number stands at 28, but a great effort none the less. Now I’m buggered. Hopping in the shower and then a couple hours of sleep, and do it all again tomorrow, we’ll today. . Today’s haul, 1 blue tongue lizard, 2 eastern brown snakes, (1 brown snake was injured and had to be euthanised, the other is one of the biggest I have seen, around 2 metres long and as thick as a coke can), 1 little whip snake, 13 tiger snakes, (1 o...f which had to be euthanised due to it being injured) and 3 callouts we attended where we couldn’t locate the snakes. 1 tiger snake was caught inside a house. It was a baby snake which was brought inside by the family cat. This is quite common with cats. They will often pick up snakes and bring them inside. Cats are a big problem with our native wildlife, and often kill or injure many animals. We recommend that cats are not left to roam outside, and rather contained to cat runs where they can’t cause any damage to our native wildlife. If you see a snake on your property, and need it relocated or just need some advice on what to do next, give us a call. We are available 24/7 for emergency snake removal. 0413277588, or 1300REPTILE, (1300737845). Stay safe.

13.01.2022 So tonight I was called out to a property where a rather large tiger snake was spotted slithering through the yard. The resident noticed the snake had something attached to it. They kept an eye on the snake until I arrived. The snake had some plastic netting stuck to its body about 1/3 of the way down its body. It was constricting the body pretty badly, and if not removed, the snake would have slowly died of hunger as it wasn’t able to digest any food. We don’t know how long... the plastic netting had been attached to the snake, but thankfully, I was able to remove it and the snake wasn’t too badly damaged. We will have the snake assessed by a Vet tomorrow, and once given the all clear, the snake will be released back into its natural habitat. Please, if you have any of this plastic just laying around, clean it up or check it regularly for trapped or injured wildlife. Same goes for bird netting. If you need a snake rescued or relocated, please contact us on 0413277588, or 1300REPTILE. (1300737845). We operate 24/7, 365 days a year.

13.01.2022 Be careful and mindful about snakes if you are out at the park with the kids enjoying the sunshine.

12.01.2022 Tonight we had a late night call out for a tiger snake in Point Cook. The resident kept their eyes on the snake as best they could after almost stepping on it on the footpath leading up to their front door. The snake had found a nice spot to hide amongst some leaf litter after it was spooked, and thankfully was still nestled in there upon my arrival. Now the snake will be safely relocated out of harms way away from humans. My team and I aren’t taking holidays this Christmas ...and will be available every day during this holiday season should you require our services. We will be operating 24/7, and our prices will not increase, they will remain the same. We just want you, your family, your pets and the snakes to be safe from each other. If you see a snake on your property and need some advice on what to do next, please give us a call on 0413277588, or 1300REPTILE (1300737845). From our team to you, we are wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Please stay safe this holiday season.

11.01.2022 Flooding and snakes.

10.01.2022 Handy tip. If you are outside, and you hear birds making a ruckus, there is sure to be something there. Birds will squeak and dive bomb snakes and lizards to try and drive them away. On this occasion, the perpetrator was a blue tongue lizard. If you see a snake, call us 24/7 on 0413277588 or 1300REPTILE (1300737845). 09.01.2022 Gearing up for a busy day.

09.01.2022 The weekend is over, and I am physically exhausted. In the last 72 hours, I have received well over 60 calls for snakes that have ended up in people’s houses, yards and playgrounds across the West. We didn’t attend all the calls, as some were passed onto other catchers and others were ID’d as lizards, so removal wasn’t necessary. While this sounds like a large number of call outs, it’s no different to previous years. The weather has been up and down, and after a cold snap las...t week, the heat has helped the snakes emerge again. The team and I removed 29 tiger snakes, 7 eastern brown snakes, 1 copperhead, 1 little whip snake, and 5 blue tongue lizards from properties in the last 72 hours. Areas where the snakes were relocated from included, Southbank, Altona, Footscray, Maribyrnong, Altona Meadows, Taylor’s Lakes, Deer Park, Sydenham, Bacchus Marsh, Melton, Point Cook, Werribee, Wyndhamvale, Lara, Williamstown, Truganina and Tarneit. We also had calls for snakes in country towns that we passed onto other catchers. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone that contacted us and followed our advice on watching the snakes safely until my team could arrive to safely catch the snakes. Also, I would like to thank my team for being available and flexible to drop everything at the drop of a hat and help keeping the community safe. If you require the services of a 24/7 emergency snake removal service, then give us a call on 0413277588, or 1300REPTILE (1300737845). Stay safe everyone. Photo: Tiger Snake (Notechis scutatus). 06.01.2022 This snake was caught by a Queensland snake catcher a few years ago. Its a striped snake, so that means it’s a tiger snake, right? Wrong. The snake in this photo is an eastern brown snake. Tiger snakes are well known for their stripes, but eastern browns can also have stripes. Tiger snakes can also be un banded, and are often mistaken for eastern brown snakes. This is why it’s important to never try and identify a snake simply by its colour alone. If you are unsure, take a ph...oto, (preferably of the head) and send it to us for an ID. Please be mindful of snakes and give them plenty of room. If you need a snake relocated, call us on 0413277588. 05.01.2022 Phone is running hot as snakes are out and about.

05.01.2022 With the recent rains lately, it’s not unusual for snakes and wildlife to get flooded out and seek higher ground. Today I was called by a concerned citizen who was riding his bike with his grandkids on the footpath near the Corner of Ribblesdale Drive and Yando Place, WyndhamVale. Just beside the footpath, less than 100m from the playground, was a big 1.5m long tiger snake, just sitting there. He was concerned that the snake had not moved, and with the high volume of foot tra...ffic in the area, he didn’t want a child to accidentally step on it. So I attended. Upon arrival, I could see it was a big snake that was currently in the process of shedding its skin. When they shed their eyes go a milky white colour. This makes it harder for the snake to see, so it can be a bit more dangerous than usual. I safely caught the snake and relocated it to a better spot, away from people and houses. Remember guys, snakes are only dangerous if they are provoked. If you see a snake, give it plenty of room to escape. If you need it relocated, then call a licensed wildlife controller, don’t try and relocate it yourself. We are available 24/7 on 0413277588, or 1300REPTILE (1300737845). Stay safe guys. #stewysnakecatcher #1300reptile #tigersnake #tigersnakes #venomoussnake #venomoussnakes #snakecatcher #snakecatchers #snakecatching #reptile #reptiles #reptileremoval #reptilerelocation #reptilerelocations #reptilerelocations #reptilerelocationandawareness See more

05.01.2022 Hey guys, one of my followers who lives in the Footscray area has had her pet python escape. It’s a woma python, so not dangerous. Looks similar to the photo posted. If you do live in the area, and you happen to see it, please contact me immediately so that we can reunite the snake back with its owner. 0413277588 or 1300REPTILE (1300737845). 03.01.2022 Tonight we were called out to catch a suspected cane toad. We don’t get cane toads down here in Victoria, so I suspected it would be a large Banjo frog or Pobblebonk, (Limnodynastes dumerilii). I was right. Decent size frog that had the ladies dog very interested. It was relocated nearby. #stewysnakecatcher #1300reptile #banjofrog #pobblebonk

03.01.2022 Looks like a busy few days ahead. We have been consistently busy over the last 3 days, averaging 6-7 call outs a day, and about 15-20 calls a day. (Not all calls require our attendance). 2 consecutive 27 degree days will certainly have the snakes out and about and on the move. If you do see a snake, remain calm. Give the snake plenty of room to escape, and notify anyone else around you. Remove all kids and pets from the area, and call us for more information on what to do ne...xt. We are available for emergency snake removal 24 hrs, 7 days a week. We can be contacted on 0413277588, or 1300 reptile, (1300737845). Please don’t try to catch or kill the snake. It’s not only illegal, but 85% of people that are bitten by snakes, are trying to kill the snake. Please leave it to us. Stay safe. Call us.

02.01.2022 Congratulations Kayla Micallef. Spotted me in Wyndhamvale. You are in the draw.

02.01.2022 It’s not hard to see how these guys often get misidentified as red bellied black snakes. The Lowlands Copperhead is a superb looking snake.
