24.01.2022 Better late than never- Why its never too late to start exercising It's truly never too late to begin exercising, new research shows. Even for people who were "couch potatoes" in their youth, embarking on a regimen of regular exercise in middle age can still greatly cut the odds for death from any cause, a major new study finds. The investigators found that folks who'd exercised all their lives had a 36 percent lower risk of dying during the study period, compared to people ...who'd never exercised. But, perhaps surprisingly, people who'd been inactive in youth but decided to get more physical in their 40s and 50s saw almost the same decline -- 35 percent -- in their odds for an early death. What's more, a mid-life start to physical activity seemed to cut the odds of death from the two major killers -- heart disease and cancer. The study found that for people who began exercising in their 40s and 50s, rates of death from heart disease fell by 43 percent compared to people who'd never exercised, and the cancer death rate fell by 16 percent. Those declines were similar to those seen in people who'd exercised all their adult lives. See more
24.01.2022 When your significant other is a snorer! We all love our partners, but sometimes youll find yourself trying to sleep through their seriously loud breathing during the night, during the hours when youre both supposed to be resting comfortably! Its common to believe that it is the snorer who suffers, but the effects of snoring impact on everyone in the room. This can be incredibly disruptive night after night. In certain cases, snoring volumes can get so loud that they can cause hearing issues for their partner. Its not surprising because some snoring can be between 50 and 100 decibels, which is the equivalent to a pneumatic drill!

23.01.2022 Taking care of your tongue Tackle bad breath every time you brush -- take time to brush or scrape your tongue, too. Your tongue plays host to the bacteria that help cause bad breath, so giving it a scrub, or using a tongue scraper daily, can help reduce odor-causing compounds.

21.01.2022 Sensitive teeth- you might be overdoing the mouthwash Love minty fresh breath? If you swig mouthwash throughout the day, you may set yourself up for a sore mouth. That's because some products have acids that make already-sensitive teeth worse. The solution: Limit rinsing to once or twice a day. If you're still sensitive, ask your dentist about neutral fluoride rinses or those that lower sensitivity, and what ingredients to avoid.
21.01.2022 Does juice cause tooth decay? Regular and 'diet' soft drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, fruit juices, fruit drinks, and cordials also have high acid levels that can cause tooth erosion. ... Regular loss of enamel can lead to cavities and exposure of the inner layers of the tooth that may become sensitive and painful.
20.01.2022 Sometimes it can be the simplest things that can make a big difference. Bad oral habits can easily ruin your smile but are often quick to correct. Are you guilty of any of these three habits? http://stgeorgedental.com.au/are-you-guilty-of-any-of-thes/
20.01.2022 Did you know! On average 25% of adults DO NOT brush twice a day. This increases the risk of developing tooth decay by 33%.

15.01.2022 Where does the tooth fairy take your baby teeth In order for babies to eat solid food they need teeth too. That is why the tooth fairy recycles and reuses your old teeth and gives them to small babies. She plants them in their gums and then they teethe and grow those teeth in.
14.01.2022 Everything you eat and drink can have a major effect on the health of your teeth and gums, particularly whether you develop tooth decay, a diet-related disease which is caused when the sugars in the food and drinks you eat are taken up by bacteria; these, in turn, produce the acids that can attack the outer layer of tooth enamel. To ensure that your diet doesn't negatively affect your teeth, there are a few key things to keep in mind: Drink lots of water - Its calorie-fre...e, there are no ingredient labels to stress over, and its almost free! Limit snacking between meals - A key factor in helping to prevent tooth decay is saliva, which provides a natural defense mechanism within the mouth by neutralizing the acids produced by bacteria. Watch what you eat - Frequent snacking on foods with hidden sugars like biscuits, crackers, cereals, chips and even dried fruit (these foods break down into sugars in the mouth) can cause acid attacks on your tooth enamel. Gum anyone? - Chewing sugar-free gum (and thats the crucial qualifier, it must be sugar-free!) may not be the first thing that springs to mind when youre thinking about good dietary habits that benefit your teeth. But studies have shown that chewing sugar-free gum for 20 minutes after eating can prompt your mouth to produce more saliva, which helps neutralize decay-causing acid attacks.
14.01.2022 Stop the biting! Most of the time, nail-biting is a reaction to stress, but it can also be an unconscious nervous habit caused by boredom or frustration. Conscious or not, it can cause major damage to your teeth. ... Chomping on your fingernails can also lead to a chippedtooth or broken dental restorations.
14.01.2022 Sharing the love- DID YOU KNOW Newborn babies do not have tooth decay bacteria. Often, the bacteria are transmitted from mother to baby when she kisses the child or blows on hot food/drink before feeding the baby.
12.01.2022 What to know about your child's first teeth coming through. Eruption patterns in different children differ at all stages. Even amongst siblings, these patterns are not fixed. Usually, baby teeth start to erupt by the age of 6 to 7 months for front teeth. Again, these age ranges are not fixed, they are always given in long range and frames. Some children can be late, extending up to even 18 months for first tooth eruption. On the other hand, some kids can be very quick startin...g from 3 months. Others may even have one of their baby tooth present at birth. The time of tooth falling out is tentatively related to the time of the eruption. If the tooth has erupted early, it is likely to fall early as well. So many a times, if the child got the first tooth close to 4 or 5 months, for instance, they will be amongst the first one in their class to lose these teeth may be around 5 to 6 years of age. If the child got the first tooth beyond one year of age, they are likely to lose them late as well, sometimes even beyond 7 to 7 1/2 years of age.

03.01.2022 Dental Implants- How long is the entire implant process? Dental implants take approximately 3-4 months in the lower jaw and 6 months in the upper to integrate fully with your jawbone. Once integrated, it takes a few visits to complete the restoration, depending upon the complexity.
02.01.2022 Let's talk about sports drinks There's no doubt a cold sports drink is refreshing after a good workout. But these drinks are usually high in sugar. Like soda or candy, sugary sports drinks create an acid attack on the enamel of your teeth. Drinking them frequently can lead to decay. A better way to stay hydrated at the gym is to chug sugar-free, calorie-free water.
