11.01.2022 McDonald's PREMIER LEAGUE WOMEN - ROUND 4 (RESCHEDULED) Connells Point Rovers Football Club 3 (T. Sharp 2 & T. Souza) Defeated... Arncliffe Aurora FC 0 Connells Point Rovers carried on their winning ways in season 2020 by defeating finals rival Arncliffe Aurora 3-0 in a rescheduled fixture from round 4. League leaders CPR have won all of their matches so far this season and tonight's victory clinched them the minor premiership with still three home and away fixtures remaining. The opening fifteen minutes saw an even contest. Just before the twenty mark was the start of a devasting five minute blitz by Rovers. First Jess Burgess made a long scintillating run down the left and was able to make a low left footed cross to the far post where Toni Sharp was on hand to slot home the opening goal. Before you knew it Tami Souza who made a powerful surge from the centre circle to Aurora's six yard box, dragging three Aurora defenders with her, she took a shot on target which was saved by Arncliffe goalkeeper Rachel Molamo's foot, she was only able to tap it away into the path of Rover's Toni Sharp who claimed a brace by scoring the team's second goal. That passage of play saw the half time score of 2-0 in favor of the home team. Arncliffe began the second half in a positive fashion, really trying hard to put it to the league leaders. Connells were able to meet the challenge of Aurora without to much threat on their goal. Star recruit for CPR Tami Souza put the issue beyond doubt when she crept inside the box from the left and angled a right footed shot to the far corner to give CPR a 3-0 advantage, which they held onto 'til the final whistle.
