The 5/6s have written their own compositions, entitled "A Call to a Different Type of Arms - Peace". The poems are in response to the shared texts they've been studying: - My Mother's Eyes, by Mark Wilson - Memorial, by Gary Crew and Shaun Tan ... - and the poem In Flanders Fields, by John McCrae. 21.01.2022 And that's a wrap for the school year! A message from our Principal, Barbara Yee: Happy and safe holidays to all and I hope you enjoy wonderful and restful times with family and friends. As I said at Mass this week, It’s not joy that makes us grateful, it is gratitude that makes us joyful. Despite all we have faced, we have come through ok. We have much to be grateful for. Never will the expression ‘Happy New Year’ mean so much. Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

21.01.2022 Celebrating Jersey Day at St Gerards!

20.01.2022 The students in 2M have been learning about how animals grow and change. They have been eagerly watching their tadpole family over the past couple of months and documenting all the changes they observe. Today they said goodbye to their first fully developed frog which they have watched grow from a tiny tadpole, to a froglet and finally into a frog. It has now been taken back to the creek it came from, so this amazing life cycle can continue.

20.01.2022 Today we farewell two amazing teachers - Mrs Matthews and Miss Foster. Both have a lovely history with the school. Mrs Matthews has had 16 years at St Gerard's and was the Kindy teacher for many years, including this year’s graduating Grade 6 class when they first started! Miss Foster was once a student at St Gerard’s and returned to be our music teacher. We wish both of them best of luck in their new endeavours. In January, we also say goodbye to Father Peter from the Parish, who leaves after 8 years as Parish Priest at Epping and Carlingford. Father Peter is heading to Royal North Shore hospital as chaplain and we wish him all the best and thank him for all the hours and hard work he has put in for the school in the past 8 years.

14.01.2022 This week, the school has been voting for 2021 School Student Leaders. Earlier this month, the current Grade 5s took some time out for a "Leadership Day" to come together and reflect on what makes a good leader and prepare for Grade 6 next year when they become the school's leaders - as buddies to Kindy students, House Captains and School Captains.

09.01.2022 It's a St Gerard's tradition that the parents and students of the graduating class collectively buy a parting gift for the school. This year's class bought the library an amazing big hamper of new books. Our librarian, Mrs Hayes, wanted to pass on this message: "Thank you, thank you, thank you to the graduating class of 2020 for your generous gift for the library! The senior students will benefit greatly from new guided reading material and novels."
