13.01.2022 Dear Students & Production Community, On behalf of the College Leadership and the Production Creative Team it is with great sadness that I inform you of the cancellation of the 2020 season of Heathers. Both leadership and the creative team have worked hard over the last four months to maintain the annual production program for 2020 with many hours of planning and preparation. The creative team was determined to ensure that the program offered all students and community member...s some sense of normality in what has been an otherwise tumultuous year so far. We strongly held our heads up high with a purpose to make sure the show still went on. The decision has not been made lightly. To my knowledge there has never been a year where the production hasn’t run. Unfortunately in such unprecedented times, and with such high risk of COVID-19 spreading into our community we cannot expect our students, families and friends to put themselves at risk. For the Year 12 students of the cast, I simply cannot imagine how this news must feel. You are an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic group of young performers and I know how much production means to you all. Please know that you have all been at the forefront of our minds during this time and we would like to offer you an opportunity to come back next year to be a part of the 2021 season. I would like to thank the creative team of parents, industry experts and alumni students. Thank you for your commitment to the performing arts at St Helena Secondary College. It is due to your dedication and passion that the St Helena Secondary College productions reach new limits in youth theatre. You all of course are not only welcomed, but also encouraged to join us next year for what will be a much-needed 2021 season. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the college staff who every year continue to dedicate time, passion and expertise in the college productions. You have all been exceptional this year and have stood by the program. I know you are all as disappointed as the students about this decision and I hope you will join us again in the new year. Lastly I would like to acknowledge Karen Terry and the college leadership team who have delivered excellence in education through these truly difficult times. Not only have you kept our staff and students engaged in learning, you have also been strong advocates for the production and the performing arts. For now I would like to wish the Year 12 students a healthy and rewarding final year of high school. Keep your eyes on the prize and remember that it’ll all be over in a flash! 02.01.2022 NYPA is super excited to introduce you to our first Industry Professional guest teacher as part of the Online Artist Residency program. Erin will be a four part vocal course for our NYPA students. Check out Erin’s bio below! Erin has a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) from WAAPA, and a Certificate IV in Performing Arts from ED5 International. She has trained extensively with top level international vocal coaches in Germany and New York and has a private coaching studio, as we...ll as coaching at various schools across Melbourne. Erin has also enjoyed a successful career in the entertainment industry for over 15 years. Her professional theatre credits include the 25thAnniversary Australian tour of Les Misérables, the Australian and NZ tours ofMary Poppins, the 15thanniversary tour of Hot Shoe ShuffleandXanadu the musical. TV appearances include Sunrise, The Morning Show and Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight, and Erin toured internationally as a lead vocalist with various cruise lines for several years. https://www.erinkennedy.com.au/
