23.01.2022 My year started well with Seiichi Fujiwara Hanshi tour in Australia April/ May, Deputise for him in Canada in May with Peter Brown Shihan and Douglas Smerek Shi...han. On to India in May/June with Praduman Gaur Sensei Pradeep Parekh Sensei, Nageshwar Rao L Sensei and then off to Japan with 60 strong Australian Seiwakai members it did not get easier during the year but looking at the growth of the numbers at the November Karate Academy Camp thanks to Michael Patrick Shihan, Stacey Karetsian Shihan, Roderick Martin Shihan, Keith Hill Shihan, Mario Borg Shihan, Bernie Haughey Shihan and Hagen Neumann Shihan, Pat Drago Shihan, Peter Sbirakos Sensei for their support it went off this year with numbers increasing to over 120 again. Then Waterfall training in December thank you Rene Tleige Sensei, Jessica Vetrisano Sensei, Alan Armitage Sensei, Andrew Jeney Sensei, Fareed Mills Sensei, Pat Drago Shihan to all that supported my quest for the development of Gojuryu Karate. 21.01.2022 Karate Academy COVID-19 In the NSW delegation schools will close Tuesday and because of new social distancing rules Karate Classes can not be held. So for the safety of all students and their families. The Karate Academy we all need to close for the month of April, no grading worry about that later when all gets back to normal. 03.01.2022 An update given todays announcement from Scott Morrison re Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19): I wont repeat what you have probably received from other organisations and from generally keeping up with the news. But in terms of how it applies to us: On the one hand it is important to stay fit and healthy to ensure our immune system can fight a virus, so we will continue karate classes, which improves fitness, for now. On the other hand we will do this in a sensible way. So:... Any student who is sick should stay home until they are better. any student who has travelled from overseas must not attend training for 14 days after their return to Australia. And in addition, we have implemented some further measures. We have introduced sanitising gel / wipes for all students to use before and after every class. For the time being, we are modifying some partner work in class: i.e. no sparring, and no partner drills where there is close contact. But there is still plenty to learn with focus on basics, combination drills, kata, fitness work etc. And we will review/ revise this policy over time as the advice changes.
