21.01.2022 If you could cherrypick some cymbals that are IN STOCK and successfully cover several styles including jazz, funk, rock etc. what would you recommend? Here’s my pick: Zildjian K Constantinople 20 medium thin ride high $630 (from Musos Corner Newcastle)... Zildjian 18 K sweet crash $499 (from Musos Corner Newcastle) Zildjian 14 K sweet Hi Hats $685 (from Better Music ACT) TOTAL $1814 Any other suggestions?

19.01.2022 Have you seen this one?

19.01.2022 Drummers, what’s your favourite cymbal stack? For me the secret is this cymbal: 12 Meinl Filter China which uses FX9 bronze- 69% copper, 15% manganese, 15% zinc and 1% aluminium. It’s a shiny stiff kind of alloy and works so well with hand hammered B20 Bronze cymbals (80 percent copper, 20 percent tin). It’s also turned up a bit at the edges which allows it to fit with other cymbals perfectly. I use it in 3 different ways: 18 Meinl Byzance Jazz Thin Crash over with Filter China underneath. Also I love using a Meinl 18 Byzance China with the Filter China stacked in it. And my go-to ‘small’ stack: 10 Byzance dark splash over the Filter China.

03.01.2022 Fusion session on a jazz kit

03.01.2022 Storytelling and motivic development are always extremely important while soloing or comping behind a band. Thinking and playing melodically is one of the thin...gs that keeps the storyline concise and the audience engaged. Technique should only be a means to an end. Technique should facilitate your stories but not become them. This was at the KOSA festival a few (many) years ago. I’m sorry that I can’t recall who the other musicians are. If you know, let me know! See more

02.01.2022 Matt's Pandeiro groove

02.01.2022 Dave Lazorcik has requested the drum tuning for this clip from WDR Big Band. Snare is quite tight, toms are tuned to a 'general' or 'all-round' tuning, looser than a jazz tuning. Snare - A3 12" Tom - B2 14" Tom - F2
