23.01.2022 I am not going to normalise face mask wearing; however, the world is currently in a different place. Being connected to others seeing their face, their eyes , smile , hearing their voice and touch is important for our mental and physical wellbeing and can be a protective factor against anxiety and depression. Whilst people are wearing masks they can no longer see the smiles of others. To read their face and connect with others. If you are a person walking past another (or a ...parent with their child) please don't hide behind your mask. Say hello, wave, communicate. You don't have to look down. In fact you can still do this to everyone during your daily walks , around the neighbourhood whilst you will pass a number of people. Doing this with others builds a sense of connection, safety and security even though the world really is a different place at the moment; let’s try and reach out to our community to create a safe and connected place by saying hello. This adds connection , something that is needed for our nervous system, allowing us to feel connected, become a part of a community that says we are all a part of tjis together and I notice you. These connections are extremely important for our mental health and wellbeing Having now completed three-week training in foundations polyvagal therapy and met Deb Dana personally, whom is a close ally of Steve Porges the founder of Polyvagal therapy, I now understand how important it is for our nervous system to connect with others, nature and the world. Feeling a sense of belonging and safety. During this pandemic our nervous systems are struggling, Connections matter. Strong ties with nature, animals , family, friends and the community provide us with happiness, security, support and a sense of purpose. Below explanation of our nervous system is from the mind beyond. Assisting us to understand our nervous system and its response to survive

22.01.2022 Happy mothers day to all of the mothers out there, remember you are greater than you know, stronger than you think and wiser than you know , successful mothers are not the ones that never struggled they are the ones that never gave up despite their struggles, Happy mothers day to all the amazing mothers

16.01.2022 You've likely heard yourself saying "a part of me wants to...and then there is a part of me that doesn't..." as you they grapple with feelings of Anger, Sadness, Confusion, Hurt, Anxiety , loneliness . If this is, you and you feel like you are falling apart? Maybe it is time to reach out for help to someone who is able to provide a safe and supportive space to help you? Over the years I have learned of the importance of assisting my client’s parts to feel safe assisting... them to relax, offering a space without judgement. This is the foundation of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model that Richard Schwartz has developed ; it is a powerful, evidence-based model that I have been using within my clinical practice. Whilst working with my clients and integrating this tool within my practice I have developed a strong belief in this powerful, evidence-based model and personally seen how it can be used to transform shame, addiction, depression, and stress from past traumatic imprints back into their natural state. This is known as the Self. In the state of Self, clients know how to heal their parts and begin to understand them. https://elemental.medium.com/inside-the-revolutionary-treat Adding to my toolbox Passionate and empathic therapists are only as strong as the tools in their toolbox. Kristina is now using IFS incorporating this model within her practice with other evidenced based therapies that she is trained and qualified in such as Foundations Polyvagal therapy , EMDR with adults, adolescents and children, assisting with mental health, recover and healing from Stress and trauma. What would it feel like to be safe and warm Arms strong but gentle Snuggled close Joined by tears and laughter free to share, to stay, to leave Instead of constant Anger, Sadness, Confusion, Hurt, Anxiety , loneliness. Incidents such as Family Separation, Bullying, Violence, relationship breakdown, Grief , Trauma all leave an imprint on the mind brain and body. Bessel Van De Kolk. 05.01.2022 Hi all aware I have been a bit quiet re this site. Thankfully things have been busy in my two days of private practice. I am extremely thankful to all of the support and encouragrnent I have received from all. Beginning a practice has been extremely nerve racking , my gratitude to all is immense Thought the post below was important to share, especially regarding our vulnerable communties , Schools, kindergarten, child care, family day care, school holiday programs and camps a...re a safe haven for many children. It is these things that often eliminate the risk to those children who are at risk of/or are experiencing abuse, neglect and violence within their home. With the current state of the world, environmental factors within the home will impact all family members. There is a chance families will be quarantined at some stage and that will be difficult for most families; let alone those at risk. Can we all please be in this together. - If there is a child you have been concerned about previously; and not acted. Please act now. Contact you department of health & human services and make them aware. You may save a life. - If you are a teacher, carer, youth worker, social worker or anyone working with children PLEASE talk about what it is the children and parents can do at home should this occur. Put together safety plans (be it written or verbal), provide support contact numbers, discuss strategies to eliminate stress. Do some emotional regulation activities. Provide them some meditations, calming activities or even appropriate anger release strategies; and provide them to the parents too. - Ask children how they are. It is so important for children to verbalise or express how they are feeling, and they may disclose something to you. Abuse comes in many forms and is NOT just physical.
