Election campaigns should be financed by the people who do the voting and certainly not The We...althier People who run The Economy. Each candidate should receive a small allowance from the federal budget - the money of We The People. We could call it Pocket Money. So we know whose pocket our politicians are in .. OURS ! Ha doesn't that sound good ? Let's face it, most campaign money is spent on bad ads. Imagine if politics was a battle of IDEAS rather than dodgy videos. If we cut off the money supply: more ideas, less ads. We could also ban candidates from using their own money to pay for this stuff .. cos that's basically betting on yourself. Footballers and cricketers can't do that, why should politicians be allowed ? See more
