04.01.2022 Last week we headed out to our students property - Charley (only 15 yrs old!) to help a honey bee colony that had fallen with a tree. Charley had covered it with a tarp to protect it from the rain until we got there. Unfortunately the honey bee colony had failed and was completely abliterated by hive beetle (see photo 2) SO... out came the black plastic bags and the clean up began Fortunately we found a beautiful little colony of #tetragonulacarbonaria sugarbag bees just ...below the honey bee colony. The hive had broken straight off with the fall exposing it so we can easily place it in a hive. Once this colony has established itself in it's new hive, it will return to Charley, in it's original location - exactly where we believe they belong.
