19.01.2022 Did you know that 1 in 5 people experience symptoms of mental illness each year? In fact, every day in Australia, 8 people will die from suicide. Mental illness can be debilitating and can have a devastating impact on not only those living with it, but those around them. This October, I’ll be walking to make a difference to the lives of people touched by mental illness and suicide! I'm fundraising to raise money for life-changing research into treatment and prevention of men...tal illness, as well as vital support services. It would mean so much to me if you'd support my walk this October. See more

18.01.2022 STILLTRAINING@54 I'm raising funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. I need your help. The rate of male suicide is alarmingly high: - 3 out of 4 suicides in Australia are by men - Suicide is the leading cause of death among Aussie men aged 15 - 44... 1 in 6 Australian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Please donate to support men's health. CLICK the LINK below: https://movember.com/m/davidjackson471?mc=40 Still Training and Still Growing the Mo. See more

17.01.2022 STILLTRAINING@54 My Bung Leg and I have completed our 100km Walk throughout the month of October with an Unofficial Parkrun of 5km in 51m: 48s. A pretty slow time, but I thought it was quite a fitting final walk for the month. The Parkrun has been a great event which I have previously taken PT clients in so to try and incorporate fun and fitness into their daily life. It also served as a great family event, getting everyone up together to get outside and get some exercise, su...n and fresh air. This October, I walked 100km to make a difference to the lives of people touched by mental illness and suicide! Did you know that 1 in 5 people experience symptoms of mental illness each year? It would mean so much to me if you'd support my walk this October and thank you to those that have already supported me. www.onefootforward.org.au/fundraisers/davidjackson Walking 100km with my bung leg was painful. But it wasn’t as painful as having to walk away from something you wanted. The feeling that you were being pushed away until you had no choice but to walk away hurts so much. You feel so bad. You tried so hard to do things for them, to help them, to build them up. You offer your world to them. You feel that you have let them down and that you weren’t strong enough for them. But everything they are doing, everything they are saying is designed to hurt you, to cut you, to bring you down. You just can’t understand what is going on or why this is happening. You don’t know the truth from the lies. You don’t know what is real or what is unreal. You keep trying, you think that you can make a difference, so you stay, but it wasn't enough, nothing you do is good enough. It only gets worse. Then you just can’t take it anymore and you have to walk away, leave that world you were building behind, that life isn’t yours anymore. Walking away and knowing that you can never go back and that things will never be the same. And then they still try and punish you for that. That is what’s painful. But that is the nature of the beast. The Black Dog bites hard. Walking 100km with a bung leg in one month was simple. Living with mental illness every day is what is difficult. October, another month has come and gone, and life goes on Still training, still walking and still living.

04.01.2022 STILLTRAINING@54 The Black Dog is real and the Black Dog bites hard. I’ve been told that I am not hot, not fit, not handsome and that I have a sloppy old man’s body. That all may be true. It hurt to hear those words, especially coming from someone you loved and thought they loved you. It doesn’t matter what others may think of you. I have even been told that no one would want me. After being discarded so easily, one might start believing it....Continue reading

02.01.2022 STILLTRAINING@54 Progress: You may not be where you want to be, but at least you are not where you used to be. Slow progress is still progress. The only time you should look back is to see how far you have come. Still training at 54 and slowly starting to make progress, again.
