25.01.2022 The Federal Government's share for the Beams Road Overpass was confirmed in today's paper . This was made possible because Bart Mellish MP- Member for Aspley and I pushed for the Feasibility Study, then for the Business Case, and then for $128 million in funding from the Palaszczuk Government. 23.01.2022 What happened to the young couple in Alexandra Hills is an absolute tragedy. Laws were strengthened last year to make it crystal clear that offenders who pose a risk to community safety must be kept in custody. The community wants answers and the Government wants answers about the events and issues leading up to this tragedy and why courts made the decisions they did.... There will be a multiagency review, a referral to the coroner and someone has been charged with murder. And if there is more that can be done and it’s backed by evidence, it will be done. It is an area the Government is constantly looking at. Senior police have publicly stated that reports the offender was on bail for a large number of traffic offences are incorrect. It’s important that the legal process can run its course any other approach could jeopardise justice for Kate and Matt, their family and friends, and the wider Queensland community who are rightly hurting about this very tragic event.
23.01.2022 COVID-19 Positive Sewage in Sandgate, Wynumm & Maroochydore Queensland Health has notified that testing on sewage in Sandgate has returned a positive result for traces of COVID-19. It is unlikely that this is the result of community transition. COVID-19 traces can lay dormant in sewage when the virus is no longer contagious. However, we must remain vigilant to ensure Queensland, and Sandgate, continues our strong health response to the COVID-19 virus. If you are suffering... from a fever, dry cough, runny nose or tiredness please get tested immediately. For more information on testing: https://www.qld.gov.au//stay-inf/testing-and-fever-clinics. To help limit the spread of COVID-19 please maintain proper hand hygiene and social distancing wherever possible.

19.01.2022 Friday, 16 October coronavirus cases in Queensland: 2 new confirmed cases - acquired overseas and detected in hotel quarantine 4 active cases 1,164 total confirmed cases... 1,179,441 tests conducted Keep up social distancing and good hand hygiene. 18.01.2022 Traces of COVID-19 has been detected in sewage water entering the following sewage treatment plants: Coombabah Capalaba Sandgate.... These surveillance tests are extremely sensitive and can pick up tiny pieces of the genetic material of the virus. The results do not necessarily mean there are active cases in these regions and there are no known outbreaks or infectious cases in the area currently. People who have recovered from COVID-19 can have live or dead virus in their stool for weeks after recovery. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that infectious persons were, or are still, in the area. So, the message is clear. If you, your friends, your family members, anyone in the community have any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild YOU SHOULD GET TESTED. This means arranging a test at one of the many public and private testing sites across Queensland and then remain in your house until you get your test results. It's still important that we remain vigilant. Stay 1.5 metres away from other people - think two big steps Wash your hands lots with soap and water, or hand sanitizer Sneeze or cough into your arm or a tissue.
17.01.2022 Heatwave conditions are continuing across much of Queensland. Stay safe and stay cool Queensland - and make sure to check in on elderly friends and relatives.
16.01.2022 Great to tour another jewel in the crown of Townsville that’s helped the North’s economic recovery with 213 jobs and is just weeks away from completion. The Palaszczuk Government has invested $5 million in the North Queensland Cowboys Community, Training and High-Performance Centre. It’s going to be a stunning addition to the Queensland Country Bank Stadium precinct.
15.01.2022 The Election is officially on for October 31 We’re focussed on creating and protecting jobs for Queenslanders, to drive our economic recovery out of COVID-19. Now, more than ever, we need a strong government with a plan for economic recovery.... Deb Frecklington and the LNP will cut thousands of new frontline health workers again. Now is not the time to risk the LNP vote for Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor.
15.01.2022 BREAKING: The Chief Health Officer has given the all-clear to ease some restrictions early thanks to the strong health response of Queenslanders. From 4pm today, Friday October 16: - Up to 40 people can dance at weddings with a COVID Safe Plan - Dancing will be permitted at Year 12 school formals... - Gatherings of 40 people will be allowed in homes and public places - Outings from aged care facilities can resume Together we have successfully suppressed our most recent outbreak with barely a handful of COVID cases across the state. Queenslanders have done a great job of fighting this virus and deserve to have restrictions lifted as soon as it’s safe to do so. Our strong health response means we can get on with Queensland’s economic recovery plan. It’s still incredibly important to follow the health advice if you’re unwell, stay home and get tested. #covid19
14.01.2022 I just want to clarify with everyone something regarding Queensland's budget. Treasurer Cameron Dick has noted that there is currently not enough financial certainty to allow for the usual four years of economic forecasts instead opting to deliver an interim fiscal and economic update in September. Given the importance of Federal payments to the State budget, State Governments across Australia are unable to finalise their 2020-21 budgets until the Federal Government delivers... its budget on 6 October (the same day the Queensland Parliament is dissolved and therefore unable to enact a budget). If the Palaszczuk Government is re-elected in October, a full budget will be delivered in the week commencing Monday 30 November 2020. Western Australia and Victoria will hand down their budgets in mid-October. South Australia and Tasmania in early-November. New South Wales in mid-November. As the Australian Capital territory Parliament has also been dissolved for an October election, they will deliver their budget after the election although no date has been announced. You can read about the COVID-19 Fiscal and Economic Review here: https://www.treasury.qld.gov.au//covid-19-fiscal-and-econ/ You can also read about our Economic Recovery Plan here: https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au//our-economic-recovery-stra #covid19au #qldjobs Annastacia Palaszczuk MP Cameron Dick MP

08.01.2022 NORTHSIDE BIKEWAY UPGRADES It was great to catch up with Bart Mellish MP- Member for Aspley and talk about the extension of the North Brisbane Bikeway between Chermside and Aspley, including a shared path and on-road bicycle facilities . This extension was possible through the Palaszczuk Government's Works for Queensland Program. $7.7 million was dedicated to the Brisbane Local Government Area and Bart managed to secure $2.7 million for this upgrade .... This has been a long-awaited project to link up our bikepaths for safer and better quality riding on the Northside. #qldpol #qldjobs #W4Q
07.01.2022 Last Saturday the Annastacia Palaszczuk MP Government unveiled Queensland’s Protected Area Strategy 2020-2030 . 06.01.2022 Queensland Police work on the frontline every day to keep our community safe, and we'll make sure they have the resources they need to do that. We’re delivering 2,025 new police personnel by 2025, and 25 new mobile police beats. Our $634 million investment is fully costed, and our commitments are fully funded.... It's all about jobs: creating jobs for Queenslanders to keep our economic recovery heading in the right direction. #qldjobs

05.01.2022 BREAKING: If re-elected, we'll partner with Share the Dignity to provide vending machines with free tampons and pads at 120 schools across the state. All Queensland schools, including independent and Catholic schools, can register to be part of the program, with schools most in need given priority. Sanitary products aren’t luxury items they’re a necessity.... This will give students the dignity they deserve, and help them feel more confident and stress-free during their time at school. In addition, all Queensland schools will be able to access the Period Talk educational program and resources. Better education around menstruation will reduce stigma and help identify cycle-related physical and mental health conditions earlier. #sharethedignity

04.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Government has invested $3 million into the Prince Charles Hospital. This will allow the emergency department to be upgraded meaning more beds, more treatment spaces and more outpatient capacity. This project will ensure the hospital continues to meet the current and future health needs of the Brisbane northside’s growing population.... This also means more construction jobs will become available thanks to Queensland's Economic Recovery Plan. #4017 #4018

04.01.2022 After yesterday's news that the President of the United States has contracted COVID-19 and as Europe endures a second wave of coronavirus and lockdowns, we’re able to get out and make the most of the school holidays. The pandemic isn’t over and we’re taking measured steps, based on the health advice, to keep our economic recovery on track and the virus at bay. Let’s keep working together to make sure our economy rebounds - not the virus.... Thank you Queensland. #covid19au

03.01.2022 The last episode of 'OUTSIDE IN' is with Chong Ali, a hip hop artist from the outer suburbs of Brisbane. His lyrics in "Yeah Bruss" are about the diverse neighbourhood where he grew up and they're fresh and honest. He tells his own story his Vietnamese heritage and how he values his own diversity and his families history but also he tries to overcome the clash of cultures experienced by first and second generation Australians. It's a great episode to wrap up the 10 week do...cuseries by Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre (BEMAC) as I totally agree with Chong that politicans and policy makers need to have their 'boots on the ground' with local communities to find out what matters most to them and their families. I'm always open for a chat with our Queensland multicultural communities, particularly now as the last few months have impacted us all in so many unforeseeable ways. #ourstories #ourart #ourway #outsidein #CelebrateMulticultualQueensland
02.01.2022 We have a clear plan for Queensland's economic recovery and it has already begun. 02.01.2022 Job vacancies rebounded by 67% in Queensland in the September quarter to a level higher than they were this time last year. More job vacancies means more businesses confident enough to put on more workers. The evidence is clear the states with the strongest health response are having the strongest economic recovery.... #qldjobs #untieandrecover
