24.01.2022 We are not going to lie: we, along with our partners at the History Trust of South Australia, are particularly disappointed that amongst everything else we have... had to close the AIDS Quilt exhibition early, and that we cannot proceed at this time with the planned AIDS Quilt forum. It was a couple of years work to get to this point, and we know some of you hadn't yet seen it on display, and some of you were looking forward to attending and/or participating in the Quilt forum (as were we!). Those who have seen it have told us how much it meant to them - and that has meant a lot to us. We, like everyone else, know we need to do our bit to help get the COVID-19 virus under control: even when that means swallowing some unpleasant medicine. But it's not all bad news! Both we and the History Trust of South Australia are passionate about bringing the Quilt to you, and about holding the forum for the community to celebrate its past and discuss its future. (Also, none of us like to give up very easily). So, we are incredibly excited and heartened to tell you that The AIDS Quilt exhibition and forum will now be part of South Australia's History Festival in May 2021! South Australia's History Festival is an annual statewide event presented by the History Trust of South Australia. Held throughout May each year, the History Festival explores the state’s places and spaces, stories, collections and ideas that make us who we are. So watch this space for the return of the Quilt, as details become available! In the meantime we would also like to assure everyone that we will continue to digitise the panels for the proposed SA Quilt website. (This will be done ASAP, but we are sure you understand that with everything in flux right now we don't even want to estimate a date). Thanks everyone, and please stay safe ( by @merchusey )

19.01.2022 This is an amazing exhibition that the History Trust of South Australia and the Centre of Democracy are proud to be co-hosting. Come along and check it out - on display until Tuesday 1 December.

17.01.2022 A very relevant and timely piece, and a perfect example of using alternate materials! Thank you to Courtney Cox Art submitting this all the way from Texas! #Stitchandresist Lie Swatter Pattern designed and stitched by: @courtneycoxart... "I was using a (different) fly swatter and when I put it away I looked closer at it and realized it was possible to stitch on it. Donald Trump immediately came to mind. I wish I could swat the pestilential president out of office."

07.01.2022 Lesbians are Everywhere, so don’t panic Designed and stitched by: Monica As a member of the Stitchers and Knitters group, the Stitch and Resist project has inspired me over the months of Covid to stitch again. In the early 1990s I made a big banner for Pride and International Women’s Day marches saying ‘Lesbians are Everywhere, so don’t panic’. It was later lent and never returned, a sad loss. So here is the slogan again for both sweet smiles for us and defiance against homop...hobia. #stitchandresist

04.01.2022 Express how you feel with Union St Printmakers... F**k Covid Postcard Folio - Another crafty way to get it all out! What: Sadness, despair, worry about the environment, joy at being at home, happy gardening, the sparkling energy of early morning sea swims, making prints late at night, listening to bad 80s music, whatever you feel, this folio is a way for you to express it.... Who: Anyone, any where, of any age, any skill and ability. How: read this, knock out a quick set of prints and then post them in. Why: Because it helps. And you'll receive a beautiful set of prints in the post shortly afterwards. And because we all need to make things in order to be okay. And we all need to feel connected, to communicate... So please make and share with us. For more about the folio, and to see past prints, please visit their website. https://www.unionstprintmakers.com/fuck-covid

03.01.2022 #stitchandresist Even on the darkest days Designed and stitched by: Eliza "Started at a Stitch & Resist workshop in Mental Health Week 2020, this piece is a reminder that, even in the throes of a depressive episode, there is always a ray of sunlight to be found."

02.01.2022 Please scream inside your heart Stitched by: Karen Pattern designed by: Cross Stitch with Art #stitchandresist... In late May 2020, as Japan began to reopen following a period of COVID-19 shut downs, a popular theme park released a video outlining their new restrictions to prevent the spread of the disease. The video features two suited and masked park executives riding a hectic roller coaster with notably blank expressions. The aim of the video was to inform park-goers of a new rule banning screaming on rides, with the final message requesting roller coaster riders to ‘please scream inside your heart’ instead. This phrase was quickly adopted by many online as an unofficial motto of 2020. https://www.timeout.com//please-scream-inside-your-heart-j

01.01.2022 Thanks to Eliza for sharing this for #wipwednesday! Stay tuned to see the amazing finished piece later this week!
