18.01.2022 The past couple of weeks have been extremely busy, making and giving approximately 90 masks to various places and people. I have been asked over and over if people can buy them but as I feel uncomfortable selling them at this time, I have accepted donations towards costs. These masks are purely to stop you from touching your face and to stop you from coughing or sneezing on others whilst out. I have now decided to offer keyfobs at $10 each to people who would like to donat...e towards costs. The 3 keyfobs in the photos are the designs aimed at this offer and each keyfob sold will fund 2 masks plus 2 3d printed adjusters which will pull the elastic to the back of the head taking the pressure off the ears. You can choose to keep the masks yourselves, to pass them on to someone you think needs them or I can use the funds to buy more supplies so I can carry on making more masks. We also have a great range of other keyfobs and bookmarks available for sale. 06.01.2022 This is most definitely not my best picture but I wanted to share something with you all. Over recent months our world in general has seen some horrible things happening. Our world has literally been on fire. While it was on fire here in Australia, we saw people all over the world pull together and so many people donated money as well as time and materials to make things for all our injured animals as well as people. We raised so much money and so many Joey pouches and cool ...ties etc were made to help animals and humans. It was an amazing thing to see. Now my story changes, in the recent weeks with Covid-19, I have seen another side to some people. I see daily news of people not abiding by the rules set in place by our governments to help stop the spread, of people fighting over groceries and toilet paper and stockpiling so much that those with limited means have to go without. Our elderly and differently abled are suffering because of pure selfishness as are our key workers who are working crazy shifts looking after the ill or making sure there are enough groceries on the shelves for those selfish people to fight over. Now back to my picture, I never thought in my life I would see the day, I would be making a mask, to put over my face so I would not touch my face, to help protect me and my dodgy immune system from a virus. So imagine how I felt when I saw a news article from Cairns 7 news where a lady is actually charging $25aud for each mask she makes. She says she has already sold 2500 and has orders for a further 2000. I personally feel to do that is a serious case of profiteering during this time, in fact anyone charging over material costs I personally feel is doing that. I never thought I'd make them to give to other people like me who need them but cannot afford to pay stupid money for something which cost me about $1.25 aud to make but I am because not everyone has the money to pay for them. 03.01.2022 I have been getting messages from various people and places regarding the face masks I'm making, about where they can be seen and prices etc. Until now I having been making random and giving them to people as I don't believe in charging for them. My masks are not PPE, they do not have filters and are primarily to stop you touching your face whilst out and stop you from splattering people when you sneeze and stuff like that. I am still happy to carry on doing this as long as ...people only ask for what they really need. If you do like what I'm making consider a donation to pay for use of electric, wear and tear on the sewing machine or materials as I'm not buying them but using material I have at home bought for other things. Pick up is from my home in Palm Cove except Wednesday and Sues Book Exchange on Wednesday each week at Showgrounds Shopping Centre as long as the Sues is open. 02.01.2022 Yesterday in amongst stitching keyfobs, I fitted in some time to do a test stitch for a digitizer I use. It is meant to be stitched on to toilet paper but as I do not have a secret stash of toilet paper I chose to stitch it as a toilet paper wrap.
