25.01.2022 Congratulations to the students from Year 9 who were invited to the High Achievers morning tea this term. These morning teas are held for the top students in each year group each term, to acknowledge their hard work and dedication towards academic excellence. To be invited to these events students must display a high standard of work across all their subjects. Well done all! #sihsyear9 #respectperseverancegrowth
24.01.2022 During their final break, our Year 12 Chemistry students organised to meet Col Harrison, a teacher from the north coast who makes YouTube videos and resources for HSC Chemistry (and now Biology too). He is a household name amongst senior science students at St Ives and around the state, and he had some great advice for the students. They will, no doubt, have applied it during their HSC exams! The Year 11 students are desperately hoping to meet Col too after hearing about this. The Science department are very proud of the efforts of all our students this year! #sihsscience #respectperseverancegrowth
21.01.2022 Congratulations to Will G (Year 11) who has been invited (again!) to compete in the international competition - Tournament of the Towns. Students from over 100 cities around the world have been selected as a recognition of prior success in various national mathematics competitions. Will has also selected to attend the National Mathematical Summer School which is limited to 75 talented students nationally and is run by the Australian National University. Will will be mentored by academics in exploring all sorts of challenging and interesting areas of maths. #sihsmathematics #respectperseverancegrowth

19.01.2022 Congratulations to those students whose efforts have led them to achieve to the highest level and attend the final High Achievers morning tea for Year 12 2020. Some students have attended these events since Year 7, others were there for the first time. We wish them well for the HSC in this challenging year! #sihsyear12 #respectperseverancegrowth
17.01.2022 Wishing everyone in our school community a happy, safe and restful holidays. Our staff and students have worked hard this term and are well deserving of a break! #respectperseverancegrowth #sihscommunity
17.01.2022 9T Science enjoyed designing and creating earthquake proof buildings during their studies of natural disasters. Students had to design a building that was at least 30cm tall, used 15 or less marshmallows and included a square and triangle in their design. The products were then tested on a shaking jelly tray. No buildings broke, but a couple toppled and one would have had the walls falling on you! All the designs, along with the winning design, are pictured. #sihsscience #respectperseverancegrowth
16.01.2022 Our school has now received its rescue native beehive, kindly delivered to us by Ku-Ring-Gai Council. The base was put together by some of our Year 10 and 12 students. Due to our commitment to native bees and our school gardens, the council will use St Ives High as the flagship for other schools to become more environmentally aware. A big thank you is extended to the staff and students who strive to make these positive initiatives happen. #sihssustainability #respectperseverancegrowth
14.01.2022 During semester two, the grounds of our "Chick-Inn" residence received a face lift courtesy of our Year 12 VET Construction Crew, as part of their competency work towards a Certificate II in Construction Pathways. Concreting the dirt strip at the entrance now provides a cleaner pathway to the Trade Training Centre and trip free access to the Chick-Inn coop. Excavating, installing formwork, laying reo, measuring, ordering, mixing and finally finishing concreting was eagerly undertaken by our VET students with a pleasing and professional result. Well done crew! #respectperseverancegrowth #sihsVET
13.01.2022 A popular enrichment course for Year 9 students at St Ives High is Wellness. This subject involves learning about and practicing mindfulness, yoga, kickboxing and undertaking workshops with a visiting nutritionalist. Here is the class during their kickboxing session. #sihswellness #sihsenrichment #respectperseverancegrowth
