25.01.2022 Another working bee is planned for this Sunday from about 8.00/8.30am. Drivers stand is priority so if anyone can lend a hand you would be very appreciated. Last planned working bee had a hiccup when Meady, our builder extraordinaire, had vehicle issues on the drive down and was stranded mid M1. Hoping for better luck this weekend.

24.01.2022 Still expecting a few people to have shake down run tomorrow (Sunday) morning. This is just a chance to run some buggies and trucks that haven't had a run on carpet for a long time. And it will help us to work through what we need to do to the track. Members and non members are welcome to join us if you would like. The day is expected to be v hot so we plan to be there from about 8.30am and might only be there a little while.

23.01.2022 View from the new Drivers Stand, looking forward to getting some laps in. Excited to be back

22.01.2022 Things seem ready to go. Done first systems check in 13 months, of loop etc. this am. Track seems good so we will look to get under around 9am tomorrow (Sunday). We are yet to get onto RC Sign UP as not had a meeting until now so either sign up on the day or try the old online entries page on clubs website. http://www.stivesrc.com/meetingentry/enter.php We will need to collect your contact details on the day for Covid requirements. Entry will be $5 and again we are yet to get... an online payment method set up so far, so please try to bring the correct monies. Showground has done up the carpark area near the track and expects people to park in the designated car park spaces. Try to stay off the grass and gravel. Think that is it. Hope a few of you can make it tomorrow.

22.01.2022 What a day today...Windy, chilly and the Sun was a warm welcome to carry out another scheduled working bee. Today’s task we completed the Stair Stringers and Treads, not long to go!!

22.01.2022 No working bee tomorrow (Sunday 26.7.20) as looking very wet. Will let everyone know when we will try to get stand finished. Stairs and guardrails to go. Stay dry. Thommo

21.01.2022 Excellent turn out from the Committee and Club members this Sunday for the third planned working bee. Big day today erecting the Drivers Stand frame and temporary bracing, next stage is Flooring, Stringers and Treads

20.01.2022 Hoping to get some welding up of hand and guard rails started this Sunday from 9am. Let me know if you can help. We need 3-4 people to help Glenn. Cheers, Thommo

20.01.2022 Plans are still in place to have club meet this Sunday (13th Dec) at St Ives. Weather is sounding ok at this stage. Carpet will be fine, it will be mainly the clay under the feet of marshals that we have to watch if rain continues a bit on Sat. Have a few things to test and sort tomorrow and will send update tomorrow (Sat).

19.01.2022 Working bee this Sunday. Have had delays with awaiting Council's ok re specific details on the stand design/ build. Plan for Sunday is the fitting of the handrails and guardrails. This will be primarily welding by Glenn and Takis (thanks guys for making your time and skills available). They could do with one or two people helping them, but we won't need more than 2 people due to the nature of the work/ task. I can be available for a few hours in the morning but have an even...t to get too for lunch. If anyone else feels they can help (probably need to be cutting and cleaning up the railing material with grinder etc) then please let us know so I can be aware of who to expect. I know a lot of the 'Truck' guys are racing at Singleton. And Hills has a large event on this weekend. But please let me know if you can help out on Sunday. Cheers, Thommo

18.01.2022 Truck & Shortcourse

16.01.2022 Just a quick Working Bee today with the bracing going in and the CF flooring placed, next step is the Stair Stringers, treads and balustrade/hand rails

16.01.2022 No drivers stand work today due to rain. Maybe next weekend.

16.01.2022 Breaking News: We have a driver's stand and track is now open for use. Thanks to Glen, Michael and James for recent work to get us to this point. We have some small items to finish off and some things to sort with council before we have a formal race meet but I am hoping we might be able to hold a race club race meet on 13th Dec if it all comes together. Meanwhile a few of the guys are talking about getting in some carpet running (practise) on Sunday morning so maybe break out those buggies and trucks that have been 'resting' for 12 months and get down to the track in coming days and weeks and show the council that people use this facility. The place needs some tlc but we are over a major set back.

13.01.2022 When I’m not racing 1/10th Short Course at my local SIRCCC I’m usually running these things.....

13.01.2022 Work on drivers stand will continue this weekend. Will also look at tidying track up and if we get enough people can consider some changes. Plan is to get together from about 8am on Sunday 14th. Helpful if people can bring some gloves, shovels etc. Forecast is presently looking poor (80% chance showers) but will update closer to Sunday. Thommo

12.01.2022 Just letting people know that the St Ives Showground is still open but is presently a drive through Covid testing site, at least until 24th Dec. Hence you may encounter a bit of traffic on site. I haven't been there to know exactly where they have set up within the Showground but am going to guess it will be very close to SIRCCC track as carpark area is obvious option. Hopefully lots of people can get out and use the new drivers stand and track, safe and well, after Xmas.

11.01.2022 Handrails & Balustrade fabrication all done by the clubs own Glen Meady, Drivers stand is looking absolutely amazing. You might need to wipe your feet before making your way up. Getting very close to completion

10.01.2022 Update: Thanks to Takis and Glen for all their effort and equipment to get the stand welded up. Thanks to Tony and Carl for the work yesterday to have the stand to the point it now is. So the stand is pretty much now done. The guys even put together a metal frame for an 'L' shaped table for race control.... We will be requesting a review of all this and approval by council. Additionally we still need to wire in the 'loop' and probably some speakers and power as we are now required to bring pretty much all the equipment for a race day as we have no access to storage on the showground site. Hopefully we can get stand and any issues identified by council sorted out over the next few weeks. And it is looking good. Will put up some photos when the safety fencing etc is eventually removed.

06.01.2022 Beautiful day for racing at St Ives RC Car Club

05.01.2022 More work on the drivers stand this coming Sunday from about 8am. We’ve got the following tasks to accomplish by end of day - deck/platform installation - bracing installation... - Stringers and treads - handrails so pleased to see anyone who can help out. Thommo

03.01.2022 Hi all. Working bee this Sunday. Aim to finish drivers stand stairs and some hands rails. Still awaiting council ok to complete all the details re guard rails etc. Probably from about 9am. Additionally we need to remove some items from the 'shed'. Council has advised the club that we can no longer store items in the shed (all users of the shed have been asked to vacate). So we will be sorting thru what to keep and what to dispose of.

03.01.2022 Truck guys are looking forward to getting back on the track for some shenanigans and Hooligan racing - Getting close everyone

02.01.2022 Can I get an "Amen"?

02.01.2022 Working bee this Sunday from about 8.30am. Trying to get some more progress on the drivers stand. Council happy with work done so far and ok'ed proposed work for what we hope to do to get it finished off. Things have been slow with getting ok of work done some weeks back and then finding time and good weather for the members who can assist with welding etc to finish of hand rails etc. Noting that all work is being done by members volunteering their time and skills. So thanks ...to all those who have contributed so much, so far. Will see if we can also get a little tidy up of the track but note we no longer have access to the shed where all the tools were stored so maybe if we can have a few rakes, and brooms or blowers to help clean off the track it will help us to see what we need to check re condition of carpet, and jumps for further potential work. See more
