25.01.2022 Help us reach our target! Help our Augustinian Vietnam Mission!

21.01.2022 Sharing a news article from CathNews.

21.01.2022 We celebrate today the Feast of our Archangels, St. Gabriel, St. Michael and St. Raphael. Holy Archangels, pray for us.

21.01.2022 Thank you very much Fr Dang for what you've shared with your St James Parish family. May your discernment be blessed as you start your leave from the Order of St Augustine to begin the diocesan life. God bless your future ministries!

20.01.2022 Wednesday evening after Tuan Anh's Ordination to the Deaconate, the East Deanery Brisbane [here at St James Parish Hall] will host the Launch and Discussion on the Australian Bishops Social Justice Statement. Registration to attend in person is still available thru the link below, otherwise the event will be livestreamed thru the Facebook page of the Parish, the Archdiocese, Evangelisation Brisbane, and the Catholic Justice & Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of Brisbane. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/19-august-launching-of-soci

20.01.2022 I feel a change is coming ... and I’m excited!

18.01.2022 This Sunday, 11 October, we will observe Dying Peacefully Sunday. This is an important opportunity to come together and encourage reflection and dialogue on end... of life, access to palliative care and euthanasia. Legislation around euthanasia or voluntary assisted dying will be considered in Queensland early next year, so this is an important issue to consider as we prepare for the state election on October 31 https://bit.ly/2Sejz9m

18.01.2022 Priestly Ordination of Tuyen Pham, OSA who is a member of the Augustinian Community at St Clair, ministering at Holy Spirit Parish, St Clair, in Western Sydney. God bless you Tuyen, and God bless the whole community at Holy Spirit Parish, from St James Parish Coorparoo.

17.01.2022 This is happening tonight at 7:30pm folks! Facebook Live thru our parish facebook page. Also available thru the Archdiocese streaming platform, and the facebook pages of the Evangelisation Brisbane, the ACBC Office for Social Justice, and the Catholic Justice & Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of Brisbane. This is a timely message in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic is affecting many members of our parishes, schools and communities, Bishop Brady said. The personal feelings of anxiety and despair we all share at this time provide an opportunity to become more aware and active in fostering the mental health of all. Understanding mental health will help us to be aware of those who most need our support.

16.01.2022 Watch Fr Francis have a haircut from different members of our Parish to raise money for the Augustinian Vietnam Mission.

16.01.2022 Since we can't have a gathering over food and drinks after Mass on the Feast of St Augustine, we can still let our hair down, relax, and have a bit of fun. If we reach the target amount of $3500 before the 30th August 2020 (Sunday), it won't be a bad hair day that Sunday for the Vietnam Mission. Fr Francis will be ready to have his hair cut/trimmed for the sake of the mission. You might even get a chance to cut some strand yourself [COVID-19 restrictions apply though, hehe ]. Let us support the Augustinian Vietnam Mission!

16.01.2022 Today we celebrate the Nativity of our Blessed Mother Mary. May the mother of Jesus and our mother, always smile on our spirit, obtaining for it, from her most Holy Son, every heavenly blessing. In trial or difficulty we have recourse to Mother Mary, whose glance alone is enough to dissipate every fear.... Dearest Mother, thank you for keeping us, guiding us and protecting us. Amen

10.01.2022 With the announcement of three positive COVID-19 cases on Brisbanes southside, and advice from health authorities regarding the potential spread of the virus in the area, all weekday Mass services and gatherings up until 12pm this Saturday August 1 have been cancelled in the following parishes only: Woodridge, Kingston Marsden, Regents Park, Sunnybank, Acacia Ridge, Inala, Goodna, Springfield, Loganholme, Daisy Hill, Rochedale, Beenleigh, and Beaudesert. This precautionary ...measure is taken to protect parishioners and the wider community. Queensland Health is now undertaking contract tracing for the individuals who have tested positive and we will continue to respond to new information as it becomes available. Funerals that were pre-arranged to take place in these parishes during this period up until August 1 will proceed, with strict social distancing, hygiene and cleaning protocols in place. 10.01.2022 To everyone who followed our Facebook Live streamed-masses at any time from Palm Sunday 5th April until last Sunday 26th July, our massive THANK YOU for letting us connect with you in this way. As we have previously announced for several weeks, beginning this Sunday there will be no more streaming of our Sunday Mass :( . [But this is not the end of this, there is more to come in the future, please read till the end.] Please do not forget to register for our Vigil and Sunday ...Masses. Registration for weekend Masses closes or ends at noontime on FridayS. Once again, registration for masses is here to stay for quite a while for contact tracing purposes. We very highly recommend that you register online thru Eventbrite or by calling the office (before noontime Friday). Thank you. As part of our long-term planning, we have begun asking for quotes in regards to a more steady, efficient set-up for streaming inside the church, not only for masses, but also for other activities such as talks, addresses, conferences, concerts (e.g. QCMF), school activities, weddings, funerals, etc. that will have the church as the venue. If anyone would like to share their resources (advice, expertise, monetary donation) towards this plan, please contact the Parish Priest. Thanks.

02.01.2022 Its ok to not be ok. Know that you are loved. Reach out if you need support, understanding, a listening ear or even a prayer. Maybe this is a question we should be asking others more often, especially during these challenging times... Are you OK?

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Brother Nguyn Vn Tú OSA who received the ministry of lector today, 22nd August 2020, in Grace Chapel, Augustinian Formation Community, Broo...kvale NSW. Prior Provincial Peter Jones OSA installed Brother Tú in the ministry of lector, which is conferred upon those who prepare and proclaim readings from Scripture at Mass and other liturgical celebrations. A lector also may recite psalms between the readings and present the intentions for the general intercessions. During the rite of institution, Brother Tú was exhorted in these words: In proclaiming Gods word to others, accept it yourself in obedience to the Holy Spirit. Meditate on it constantly, so that each day you will have a deeper love of the Scriptures, and in all you say and do show forth to the world our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please continue to keep Brother Tú in your prayers!

01.01.2022 Please let us all be careful.
