25.01.2022 This Saturday, Northern Beaches Division, with the support of the State Event Delivery Group, wiIl be running the medical deployment for "The Drop Festival: Manly". In preparation, our members participated in a large scenario based training night focusing on likely patient presentations. Members were faced with multiple patients, varying from the intoxicated, to the unconscious, and to the downright weird. The training centred on responding to patients, with an emphasis on s...cene management, patient assessment, escalation of care, and member safety. The session succeeded in building confidence in our members and introducing our new trainees to scenario based training. Our team came away equiped with a few more tools, and are now ready to respond while listening to Ball Park Music, Boy & Bear, and The Presets. If you're attending Drop Festival, come by the medical tent and say hi. https://www.thedroplive.com/en-AU/locations/manly#lineup

24.01.2022 That's not stock footage. That's Northern Beaches members training, treating, and supporting the community. We pride ourselves on delivering the best first response and prehospital care training to our members, three times a month. Every week our members are treating patients at events, both locally and across the state. And our Division is commited to supporting the community, from first aid coverage at a local market, to providing medical support to bushfire evcuation centr...es. 12.01.2022 Our Event Health Service work may be on hold, but we haven't stopped working to improve the Division. The Logistics Team is working on a project to replace and upgrade our current Response Kits. TacMed Australia sent us heaps of packs and packing cells to trial, allowing us to experiment and create custom Response Kits, perfect for our particular needs when responding to a patient at a Northern Beaches event. These packs and packing cells allow for a modular design, increasin...g speed and efficency on-scene. It's all part of our commintment to provide the best patient care at our Events. Thanks to tacmedaustralia.com.au for sending us all this kit to play with. 12.01.2022 Last night was our second in-person training since COVID-19 restrictions eased. Our first training was PPE use, and the theory component covering the new protocols for responding to a Cardiac Arrest. These new protocols are to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Last night we practiced those new protocols, which require putting on full PPE before approaching the patient, no chest compressions until an oxygen mask and surgical mask are secured onto the patient, and no v...entilation delivered with a bag-valve-mask. All important measures to prevent our Responders being exposed to aerosolised COVID. As we didn't want to waste surgical gowns, the team used garbage bags to practice 'donning & doffing' correctly, and proper masks, gloves and glasses so that the Response Teams could work in close proximity to each other. Even our CPR Manikins maintained social distancing.

12.01.2022 We would like to warmly welcome our newest Corporal, Nick. Nick has been a significant part of the Northern Beaches Divisions management team, always putting his hand out and involving himself in every aspect of St John. Nick has already put his new rank to use in our recent Music Festival training night calming down a fake patient!

09.01.2022 If you feel down, we’ll lift you up. If you’re grazed and bruised, we’ll patch the wounds. St John, members in green, ready to serve, in times of need.

08.01.2022 St John NSW - Northern Beaches Division members had a fantastic time providing First Aid coverage at the 'Mona Vale Autumn Festival'. The Mona Vale Autumn Festival is a free community event centered around music and local businesses. It's always a great pleasure to support the local community, and we look forward to providing the same excellent service next year!
