07.01.2022 BIG LIFE UPDATE ++ Sarah and I have always said that we want to go ‘wherever our gifts would be most exploited for the glory of God’. For the past seven years..., that has meant making our homes and livelihoods in the Western Suburbs at Red Door Church. We feel exceptionally blessed to have been a part of this community for so long. We moved out here with the aim of starting a youth ministry and seeing a generation move from year seven to year twelve. Last year that mission was accomplished. In those seven years, we've had the blessing of seeing so many young people come to Jesus, follow Jesus and cherish Jesus. I've often said to my youth lads that I've got as much out of being with them as they ever get from me. That's been true of our whole experience at Red Door. We've loved the people and felt loved by the people here. Since last year, we've been praying and discerning where God may have us for the next 'mission'. Part of that was answered when the Anglican Church accepted my candidacy for ordination in 2021. Over the last six months particularly though, we've been praying about whether God would have us remain at Red Door or whether he might be moving us somewhere new. After a lot of prayer and discernment, yesterday it was announced that we have accepted a position at St. John's Anglican Church Cranbourne in 2021 pending clearances and the ordination service going ahead. I've often joked that I have a geographical blindspot for Melbourne that exists from the West Gate Bridge to Koorong - it's just like God to stretch us in our blind spots! This has been a really difficult process for us, particularly in the middle of a pandemic, but in the peaks and valleys of discernment, we feel a real sense of peace in God's timing and leading and look forward to an adventure in the Eastside We have often said at Red Door that 'we don't lose people, we send people'. God gifts people for a time, calls them, builds them, strengthens them and then sends them to be used for his glory wherever that may be. We have really cherished the last seven years at Red Door and feel well-formed and loved from a community that has seen us, built us up, loved us and now sends us out to 'make all of life all about Jesus' wherever we go.

07.01.2022 They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.
