19.01.2022 Really concerning news today for those trying to get back into work as Jobseeker supplement reduces.

18.01.2022 This year has presented many challenges for a lot of people in the Canberra community. This has emphasised the importance of having strong community bonds, and being supported by donors and volunteers. St John's Care would like to thank the Lake Ginnenderra Sea Scouts for volunteering their time on Wednesday night to help us pack our Christmas hampers. Your time and hard work goes a long way towards enabling St John's Care to provide a positive Christmas experience for many C...anberrans. 17.01.2022 Susanna is a perfect example of someone needing the support of organisations like St John’s Care to help people get back on their feet.

17.01.2022 This Friday we are having our last Friday lunch of the year. Due to COVID lunch will be a take away BBQ lunch. Feel free to arrive between 12-1:30pm.... We look forward to seeing you in a COVID safe socially distanced way

17.01.2022 DONATE TOYS OR HELP US BUILD A CHRISTMAS HAMPER Help the children we support to end 2020 on a brighter note by donating toys to our St John's Care Christmas Pre...sent Room or items that will go towards building a hamper for families and people in need. This year, St John's Care, Uniting Care Kippax, Communities at work, Canberra City Care, St Vincent De Paul Kambah, Gordon Community Care, University of Canberra and Woden Community Service are working together to make sure we can help as many people as possible during the Christmas season. We will be using a booking system so that we can ensure that everyone in need of help at Christmas receives it. Bookings will commence on Monday 16 November and the St John's Care Christmas Present Room will open from Tuesday 24 November to Friday 18 December. People experiencing financial hardship or need assistance can receive a hamper from one of the above eight organisations. They need to provide a Health Care or Centrelink Card that shows the members of their household to receive a hamper and gifts for those with children. If you are donating toys it would be wonderful to receive educational toys such as Lego and outdoor toys such as footballs, skipping ropes, softball kits, etc. For teenagers the best gift is a gift card, e.g. Big W, Kmart and Ultimate Teen. We would also appreciate your help by donating items that will go towards building a hamper for families and people in need. Some suggested items are: Milo / NRG / Ovaltine (small tin) Gravy Lollies Juice Tube or pkt of chips Jelly Christmas pudding Custard Pancake mix Relish/Chutney Bonbons Supermarket Gift Cards for people to purchase meat or other fresh items Please drop items off at St John's Care Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 2 pm or place them in the blue bin outside the St John's hall Saturday and Sunday between 9 am and 4 pm. Our Christmas Day Lunch is still in the planning stage because of Covid-19.

17.01.2022 This year we are celebrating Christmas the COVID safe way by providing a take away boxed lunch on the 25th. If you would like to join us, please arrive between 11:30 and 1:30 for lunch. We look forward to seeing you all there!

16.01.2022 This year we have experienced a decline in donations to our Christmas appeal so far. Fortunately, we have fantastic support from people within the community such as the Axelby family who generously donated Christmas presents and Gift Cards. Donations like this allow us to provide a positive memorable Christmas to members of the community who would otherwise miss out. To donate to our Christmas appeal see: https://www.givenow.com.au/stjohnscare

14.01.2022 We appreciate the ongoing support of Airport Business Parks.

13.01.2022 Imagine you are young. Your job is only casual with barely enough hours to buy food for the week let alone pay rent. Then your hours are reduced because of Covid.

11.01.2022 Too many people are getting their Centrelink suspended by their job seeker provider, often for reasons outside their control. It might just be a few days, but for someone on a low income with no buffer, that can mean days of missed bills, no groceries, no petrol, and serious consequences. Hopefully the proposed policy change will help.

09.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! We look forward to seeing you all again from the 4th January 2021!

08.01.2022 St John's Care would like to thank the Australian Sri Lankan Association of Canberra (ASLA ACT) for preparing a delicious take away lunch for our clients last Friday.
