22.01.2022 Our new Futsal goals arrived today. Just in time for our students return next week.
21.01.2022 Despite the pandemic St John’s College enrolments are growing and we now have limited vacancies in our Senior School for 2021. St John’s College is a Foundation to Year 12 Orthodoxy Christian school. We celebrate Hellenism and the Greek Culture across the curriculum. The Greek term Philotimo can not be defined easily as it describes a complex array of virtues. Our aim is to support our students to achieve ‘philotimo’: to walk the right path in life. . . .... . . . . . . 21.01.2022 Year 7 English - our Year 7 students enjoyed their last English lesson for Term 3. To celebrate a fantastic term of remote learning the students all wore a funny hat to class. Year 7 can be a difficult year, but our students have shown such resilience and courage in their first year of high school. #highschool #year72020 #preston #darebin #stjohnspreston #stjohnscollege #remotelearning #curriculum #privateschool #independentschool #schoolsvictoria
20.01.2022 Only 2.5 days left till the end of term 3! What a fantastic effort from all our students and staff. Our caring staff met for a virtual afternoon tea yesterday, to celebrate the end of another term of remote learning. There were laughs, there was a poem written by Mrs Urban, and we shared our hopes for a final term together back at school. Well done staff on all your hard work! #teachersofinstagram #stjohnscollege #stjohnspreston #endofterm #remotelearning #remotemeeting

13.01.2022 No filter needed for this explosion of colour! Throughout this term in Visual Art, the Year 3’s and 4’s have been exploring different ways of creating artworks centred around the theme of birds and wildlife. During this activity, students drew inspiration from Australian artist Pete Cromer to create these fantastic colourful Australian birds! The students explored how they can use colour, shape, texture and patterns to create these eye-catching artworks! #art #primaryschool #visualart #curriculum #privateschool #creativekids #stjohnscollege #stjohnspreston #petecromer
13.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY MEMORIAL AT SJC - students stood for 1 minute silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month in Remembrance Charles Bean landed with the Australian troops in Gallipoli on April 25, 1915. He stayed with them at the front through the entire war, refusing evacuation when he was wounded. At Pozieres the following year he was witness to 23,000 Australian casualties in just six weeks. A dying Australian asked him. Will they remember me in Australia? We are ca...lling on all Australians to remember them by observing one minute’s silence at 11am on the 11th of November for Remembrance Day. By observing one minute’s silence we pay tribute to the men and women who have served and are still serving in our defence forces and remember those who have died or suffered in conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall grow not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. #darebin #preston #lestweforget #remembranceday2020 #stjohnscollege #stjohnspreston #privateschool #primarschool #seniorschool

10.01.2022 Tonight St John’s College hosted an information session for the Parish Priests of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese - Northcote District. Mrs Urban shared highlights of the SJC Renewal during 2020 and the Strategic Plan goals for 2020-2025, emphasising His Eminence Archbishop Makarios’ support for the new vision, mission and values of the College. Our special guests were taken on a tour of the grounds, particularly the new sports courts which, through their donations and the don...ations of their parishes and communities have allowed us to complete the upgrade earlier this year. It was a real honour to have all our local priests attend this special event. 09.01.2022 During the last week of Term 3, our year 3 students at St John's College participated in a Wellbeing Day. Mrs Stefanidis supported her students to understand the importance of taking care of their wellbeing. She taught students strategies to help them feel happier through positive interactions with their families and activities that they enjoy. Students chose a minimum of three activities from the Wellbeing Grid. They were all asked to complete The Gratitude Tower challeng...e. When you show gratitude, you choose to focus on the positive things in your life rather than the negative. According to research, people who show gratitude tend to be happier. The students’ challenge was to show gratitude by thinking about all of the things that they are thankful for and writing these on cards that they then used to build the Gratitude Tower. www.stjohnspreston.vic.edu.au #stjohnscollege #stjohnspreston #preston #darebin #remotelearning #victoria See more

09.01.2022 ST JOHN’S COLLEGE VISUAL ARTS - Year Prep/1 and 2 St John's College Spoonville: Small communities of Spoonville's have been popping up all over the world over the past few months and the Year Preps, 1's and 2's at St John's also joined in the fun this term! Similarly to the colourful rainbows the students created and posted in their windows at home during Term 2, the students worked very hard to create their own special spoons to help bring together their own neighbourhoods ...and hopefully brighten someone's day! This was a fun and creative way to encourage students to get outside and to make them feel more connected with their local community whilst they have all been learning from home! Throughout this term, the Preps and Year 1's have been exploring how they can use patterns in their own artworks, so they were encouraged to create a spoon which somehow incorporated a pattern. The Year 2's also created their own special spoons however, this term they have been exploring the theme of creatures and animals and how they can incorporate shapes in their artworks. They did a fantastic job creating a creature spoon by incorporating lots of different shapes!
