16.05.2022 What we love about our kindergarten community is the way families support us in accessing resources and equipment for the children that will allow them to thrive in their early childhood education even further. We have been fortunate to recently receive a Telstra grant through one of our families that has allowed us to purchase bikes and scooters for the children to use in our outdoor space. With these we are able to help children understand road safety and how to become lifelong safe road users in the future.

Many of you may be wondering how you'll be able to support your children through kindergarten or school closures. To try and help ease the burden of the unknown, we will try to get up some kindergarten activities that you can do at home AND the learning that's happening behind them! 20.01.2022 Many of you are possibly getting ready for your children to have their kinder program taught remotely. Here is a fabulous article from the ABC about how to make this time a bit easier for you through setting up new routines and organising your space. I would highly recommend getting out those lunchboxes once again and try progressive snacking in your house. It saves time (make it in the morning then you're not preparing food all day), gives your children autonomy over their own bodies and stops them eating everything in the house in one day! We will still try to keep this page updated with helpful resources for you however as we're all trying to get our heads around this new way of living, it may be a bit slow to begin with. 18.01.2022 Hello St. John's Kindergarten community! Well what a crazy time we are living in right now and once again this means that our Facebook page has slowed. In the meantime though, with the announcement of the mandatory wearing of face masks, we thought we'd share a past kinder family's business! 16.01.2022 The poor ol' St. John's Kindergarten Facebook page has been a little bit quiet lately. Clearly, we're a very busy bunch! But we're please to say that our groups for 2020 are settling in very nicely. We hope to keep you up to date a bit more this year as we have some VERY exciting things happening with our kinder! 14.01.2022 Good morning to our St. John's Community. First off, we are all safe and well and we hope you are too as we navigate this difficult moment in our lives. Usually during the year, our kindergarten students participate in an excursion. One year we went to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Circus Oz perform and it was truly magnificent watching orchestral music tell a story. This year, however, we may need to incursion in our own homes! Luckily we have come across the Australian Chamber Orchestra doing a live stream of "There's a Sea in my Bedroom" on YouTube this weekend. If you have a chance, check it out an enjoy your incursion at home!

13.01.2022 Here at St. John's Kindergarten we are very lucky to have so many children and their families from the Chin state of Myanmar attend. They will be celebrating their national day on the 20th February 2020. This day celebrates Chin people having freedom, liberty and equality. Thank you for sharing your culture with us!

02.01.2022 Good news today for Victorian kindergarten families! Some relief during these unpredictable times.

01.01.2022 An all time favourite art activity at our kinder is marble painting. This activity works on children's ability to learn a process - pick up the marble, place it on the paper, move it around, put it back, etc - as well as helping them to develop their hand eye coordination. We would recommend using a deep tray to put the paper into. It helps stop rogue marbles with paint all over them rolling out and all over the floor! This website has a great step by step process on how to set this activity up. But don't just stop with marbles. Golf balls also make amazing patterns!
