21.01.2022 Our Kindergarten students learning how to learn together.
21.01.2022 We are looking forward to welcoming back our students this Tuesday for term 3. Just a friendly reminder that parents are not permitted on site except to purchase uniforms or visit the office. We appreciate the ongoing coperation of our families to help keep our students and teachers safe. Once again there will be 4 gates available from 8.40am, for entry for the students each morning. In the afternoon the gates will be opened at 3.05pm and all adults must quickly leave the sch...ool grounds once the students have been collected. Social distancing of 1.5m between adults is recommended when on the school grounds. We will be continuing our enhanced cleaning processes as well as ensuring that hand sanitiser, hand soap and paper towels are available for use. Students must bring a refillable bottle to school each day as the bubblers cannot be used. Finally we strongly encourage any students who may have visted Stockland at Wetherill Park between July 10 to July 17 to closely monitor for symptoms of Covid 19. If you are feeling unwell do not come to school. Remember that we are all in this together and we must look out for the well being of our entire school community. See more

19.01.2022 This year the theme for Education Week is Learning Together and although our community is not able to celebrate with us this year we would like to share some videos of our students and the amazing learning they are doing. There will be 5 videos - Preschool, Early Stage 1, Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3. Enjoy! First up Preschool.
19.01.2022 Not long now until we welcome our students back to school. A few organisational changes will be made concerning drop off and pick up. Firstly the gates to the school will remain closed until 8.40am. There will be four gates to use to gain entry to the school. Gate 1 is the pedestrian entry on Sandringham Street. Gate 2 is the gate leading to the school office. Gate 3 is the gate near the preschool and Gate 4 is on Edensor Road. Students are to be dropped off at the gate as w...e are limiting the number of adults on site. If you need to purchase a school uniform you must enter via Gate 2. We are encouraging the use of the Flexischools App to order from the canteen, however if your child cannot order for themselves you must also enter through Gate 2. In the afternoon the gates will not be open until 3.05pm. We encourage you to stay in your car and only enter the school when you have no other choice. If on site you must quickly collect your child/children and leave immediately. If parents wish to speak with their childs teacher they should contact the school to arrange a time to speak over the phone. There will be no face to face discussions between the teacher and families. We understand that some of this organisation may be inconvenient for our families, however they are required to ensure that our staff and students remain safe. See more

17.01.2022 In order to safely order and purchase uniforms from the office, parents are invited to download the Uniform Order Form and Parent Online Payment (POP) instructions from home. This should assist in minimising the amount of people in the office and time spent there. If you have questions please contact the office on 9610 1311. https://stjohnspk-p.schools.nsw.gov.au//school-uniform.html
16.01.2022 Book Fair Update - From Mrs Erzikov and Mrs Ennis: Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you for your generosity during our school Book Fair. Amazing sales were reached. Due to the overwhelming demand, we have had to back order many books. We are waiting for a delivery from Scholastic. As soon as the books arrive they will be personally delivered to each student. Thank you for your patience.
15.01.2022 As Kindergarten students learn to write, our teachers have created a short video demonstrating how to encourage independence when composing a short text on a familiar book or topic at home. Miss Heang is playing the role of a Kindergarten student and Mrs Simmons is the parent or more experienced helper. The focus of this writing session is to demonstrate how to encourage children to think of their own sentence and write with increasing independence. Students are encouraged to... solve their own writing problems by sounding out words and finding sight words they know on dictionary cards rather then always appealing for assistance. The children are still learning to hear and record sounds in a word and therefore, perfect spelling is not the main objective. Please see the Kindergarten Writing Procedures and sight word/alphabet support document in our new learning from home packs available from the school office or on the SJPPS website. If you have further questions regarding supporting your children as they learn to write, please contact your childs teacher on Seesaw. Happy writing! See more

04.01.2022 Parents and carers are encouraged to watch the following video detailing information regarding the ongoing organisation of the school. Parents are reminded that as well as those students attending on thier designated day, the school is open everyday for all children of essential workers who will be supervised in their learning. We ask that parents assist us in our organisation for Week 3 by contacting the school office to notify us if their child/children are attending on their non-face to face day. This will allow us to have accurate numbers of students in attendance, so that we can provide a safe environment in terms of social distancing protocols.
