25.01.2022 The Bunal preschool room has been embedding tapping therapy as part of their everyday mindfulness rituals. They practice this with their educators as part of the transition process from active play to group intentional teaching time. It is already evident that this process helps children calm, reground and focus. The rationale behind this practice is to help children build their own set of strategies to support their own wellbeing. What is EFT tapping? Emotional freedom tech...nique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. How does EFT tapping work? Similar to acupuncture, EFT focuses on the meridian points or energy hot spots to restore balance to your body’s energy. It’s believed that restoring this energy balance can relieve symptoms a negative experience or emotion may have caused. Proponents say the tapping helps you access your body’s energy and send signals to the part of the brain that controls stress. They claim that stimulating the meridian points through EFT tapping can reduce the stress or negative emotion you feel from your issue, ultimately restoring balance to your disrupted energy. 21.01.2022 Educator in the spotlight: Miss Effie Effie joined us in 2018, having worked previously for a preschool in Sydney. Her 11 years experience as an educator, also working with the development of centre policies and compliance procedures and a previous role, as a before & after school care coordinator, have proven to be a huge benefit to SJB ELC. Effie on her journey as an educator : "I always wanted to be an educator and teach young children. I am extremely passionate about th...e importance of nature play in early childhood education and I'm able to run with this at SJB ELC through our Bush Kindy program.... What I love about working at SJB ELC ? I feel we are a unique standout service. And I appreciate that we are unique and I can do what I feel is important to guide the learning of young children. I have that autonomy as a teacher". This year, Effie has stepped into the role of Educational Leader, leading our educational program for the centre, whilst working in the Bunal preschool room from Monday to Wednesday. This has been a seamless transition to a leadership role for someone of her knowledge and experience. Effie's most recent project, in collaboration with the team, includes an online orientation guide for families; an innovative approach taken to support new and returning families. In the future, Effie hopes to gain further experience in educational leadership and take on a mentoring role. There are no limits for such a passionate and motivated educator....

21.01.2022 This morning we had lots of fun at little Bush Kindy. Starting with our acknowledgement to country, the children showed respect to the traditional custodians, the Darkinjung people, both past, present and emerging before exploring and having fun with their friends. In all of our environments we have been encouraging the children to locate and identify things starting with the letter 'S'. While at bush kindy, L had picked up a stick and came to Miss Jasmine, "Look its a stick, Sss, stick. It has a S". This is a perfect example of our holistic approach to school readiness and how literacy is everywhere.

19.01.2022 Today was Pancake Day! Previously the children had decided on what they would like on their pancakes. They had chosen delicious toppings like strawberries; bananas; chocolate sauce and whipped cream! We had fun deciding what we should put onto the pancakes! Yum yum.

09.01.2022 This morning Miss Effie and a few children collected natural materials from our garden to use for the play dough we would make during indoor play, this was a great way to help settle the children in the morning and involve them in the planning process. We collected flowers, leaves and dandelions from the garden, Miss Effie suggested we pick some herbs from the veggie garden, after picking the mint Effie explained to the children what it was, how nice it smelt and how you coul...d try it. S was in disbelief and said, Are you joking?, which I confirmed I definitely wasn’t. Once inside a small group of children helped make the dough and then we added the flowers and herbs, A noticed that the purple flowers were turning the dough purple and Z noticed the smell coming from the mint. At group time Effie showed the class the some more herbs from the garden she picked and the children had a turn of smelling and trying them if they were brave enough. See more
