23.01.2022 If someone you know has asthma, you may want to read this. It's really important that you use a spacer with a puffer if someone is suffering from an asthma atta...ck. Using a spacer means the patient receives a more effective dose of Ventolin. It could really make a difference if they're having a severe attack. If a spacer is not available to the patient, you can improvise by using a plastic bottle. All you need to do is cut a hole at the bottom and poke the puffer through the space. Always call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency situation, especially if the patient is not breathing normally. For more information on Asthma management, please visit Asthma Australia's website: https://asthma.org.au/

20.01.2022 Anyone can save a life.

19.01.2022 Two years ago, we launched our very first Celebrate Life Event, where we helped reunite cardiac arrest survivors with the heroes who saved their lives. Due to C...OVID-19, we've had to make a couple of changes to this year's celebration, but that won't stop us from sharing these incredible stories! Have you or someone you know, suffered from a cardiac arrest, outside of hospital and were successfully resuscitated? We want to help tell your story. A patient's chance of surviving a cardiac arrest drops 10% for every minute they go without CPR. This is why we want to tell these stories -so we can educate people about the importance of early CPR and defibrillation. The more stories we can tell, the more awareness we can get out there! Tell us your cardiac arrest survival story here: stjohnwa.com.au/about-us/celebrating-life

17.01.2022 In the movies, you often see the patient jump out of their skin when a defib is applied to their chest. This is a total dramatisation! It's not how defibs work, so we've put together this handy tutorial to show you how easy (and safe) it is to use a defibrillator.

17.01.2022 Learning CPR is something that everyone should do. You never know when you are going to need it.

14.01.2022 Happy St John's Day! Many people don't know that St John WA was established here in 1891, by a group of volunteers who wanted to provide first aid training to t...he wider community. The very first of our classes commenced on 3 March, 1892 and was attended by 30 people. To compare, last year we trained over 481, 698 students! It's amazing that we have been able to deliver this service to the community for 129 years! We could not have come this far and accomplished so much without the support of our staff, volunteers and the WA community. Thank you for continuing to support us over the years.

14.01.2022 Giving way to Emergency Services. Help us to negotiate traffic safety.

11.01.2022 Time is critical when identifying a stroke. Know the signs and call 000.

07.01.2022 Did you know this feature is on your smart phone. If you enter your health information it could save vital time for Ambulance staff who are treating you if you are unable to tell them.

04.01.2022 With Schoolies not far away this is a great message for all our younger drivers. Put away your phones, don’t speed and don’t drink drive. These are the consequences of distracted drivers.

04.01.2022 This is a good reminder. Air bags are designed to protect us from an impact and contain an enormous amount of energy. If your feet are on the dash when they go off this is the type of injury that can occur. Please keep your feet off the dash and DO NOT let small children sit in the front seat.

03.01.2022 Fantastic service that we are very thankful to work with.
