23.01.2022 Last night the Waroona VFES trained our members on the use of fire equipment in our Sub Centre including some real life experience in putting out small fires under the direct guidance of Bealsie and Patrick. We would like to thank them both for their time and knowledge and making our annual fire and emergency procedures night entertaining and interactive. Many laughs were had. We would also like to thank Harry Carna for the donation of the fire extinguishers for us to practice with Please note, we don't condone fires and this was a coordinated exercise with appropriate equipment at the standby.

17.01.2022 There's no such thing as a "normal" day for the folks at St John WA. No two days are the same and it's the small things that can really make a difference. Today... is Thank a Paramedic Day, and we'd like to thank all of our amazing Paramedics and Ambulance Volunteers who change lives every single day. Do you have a Paramedic you'd like to thank? We'd also like to give a shout out to all the crews working hard over east. You're doing an amazing job keeping the community safe during COVID-19. Thank you for your service .

11.01.2022 He never fails to make us laugh, but yikes! This is how NOT to perform CPR.

08.01.2022 St John WA has now changed how we treat patients suffering from potential spinal injuries. Semi-rigid collars were traditionally applied if the patient was b...elieved to have been suffering from a cervical spinal injury, regardless of the severity level. This is no longer considered best practice and have since implemented a new assessment criteria. We encourage everyone to familiarise yourself with this update. Please share this amongst your friends and families. Thank you for helping us spread this message.

08.01.2022 LEGO Masters Australia may be over... but two new challengers have stepped forward to take on the ultimate test... Can these two greenies build an ambulance in 20 minutes with no instructions? Who do you think will win the challenge?

08.01.2022 Coronavirus Update In line with the Department of Health, if you suspect you may have coronavirus symptoms or may have had close contact with a person who h...as coronavirus, you should contact the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080. Please do NOT call Triple Zero (000) for an ambulance unless it is an emergency situation. For more information regarding Coronavirus, please visit HealthyWA's website: healthywa.wa.gov.au/coronavirus

08.01.2022 No matter where you are, we're here for you... but it helps if we know exactly where you are first. If you call Triple Zero (000) for an ambulance, the first qu...estion you are asked is "What is the address of the emergency?" In order for us to get help to you as quickly as possible, please ensure you are providing us with the correct address. Describing nearby landmarks with identifying features will help too. In the event that you don't know where you are, you can always use the First Responder app. Our app can geo-locate you and identify your latitude and longitude coordinates. You can even call Triple Zero through the app as well. Please note you will need access to 3G/4G to use this feature. Learn more about the First Responder app here: stjohnwa.com.au/online-resources/st-john-first-responder-app

04.01.2022 STOP! Before you keep scrolling, do you know anyone who still uses the Heimlich manoeuvre? Can you do us a favour and tell them not to use this technique anym...ore? Thanks so much. If you're wondering why, here's the reason: The Australian Resuscitation Council does not recommend abdominal thrusts as there is considerable evidence of harm caused by this procedure. Instead, perform five back blows followed by five chest thrusts. Ensure that you check to see if the obstruction has been dislodged after each back blow/chest thrust. Always call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency. If you need to refresh your first aid knowledge, check out our first aid training options here: stjohnwa.com.au/first-aid-training

04.01.2022 Accidents can happen at any time and sometimes the only person around to help is a child. We at St John believe that children should learn the basics of first a...id, because you never know when you might need their help in an emergency. Our puppeteer friends at Constable Care Child Safety Foundation have introduced Constable Care TV online, so students can learn about the importance of DRSABCD at home for free! You can check out their latest episode featuring Kura the Paramedic Bear here: https://bit.ly/2YWZVTN

04.01.2022 We couldn't help but notice that Perth roads are getting busier again. Don't even get us started on trying to merge onto Shelley Bridge... We all have place...s to go, but sometimes we need some help from the WA community. It's important to give way to emergency service vehicles when our lights and sirens are on. Here are three easy ways you can help us get to where we need to go. See more

01.01.2022 Today is a day of remembrance and reflection. As we bow our heads in silence at 11am, we will pay tribute to the men and women who fell in service of their coun...try. In the four years of the First World War, more than 330,000 Australians had served and more than 60,000 of them died. They were fathers, brothers, sons, mothers and daughters; all working together to help protect our nation. We will remember them. Lest we forget.

01.01.2022 Another photo from our last training day. We all had such an amazing day with lots of laughs, food and scenarios
