21.01.2022 Congratulations to all of our Year 9 students who were recognised today at our Westcourt Awards Ceremony

21.01.2022 As our Year 12 VCE students continue their exams this week, many of our Old Collegians have shared their own messages of support, including Sam Walsh (SJOC 2018). The Class of 2020 have faced challenges far beyond what is expected in their final year, our Old Collegians are in the best position to recognise the dedication needed by these young men after walking their own path here at SJC. We hope you all enjoy hearing from past students as all of our young men face their final academic challenges for this year. #SJCClassof2020 #SJCgeelong #youvegotthis #SJOCmessagesofsupport #SJOCA #Stayingconnected #Samwalsh @sammy_walshy

20.01.2022 St Joseph's newest applied learning initiative, 'St Mow-seph's' was launched today! The program involves VCAL students grabbing their hi-vis, PPE, gardening tools and heading out into the St Joseph’s community to assist the St Joseph's Old Collegians in need of a hand in the garden. Julie Cole, Fundraising & Alumni Coordinator, made contact with Barry Hill (SJOC 1950), who was the first Old Collegian to receive a nature strip blitz, Barry was very grateful and appreciative... of the service. The program allows current students to pay respect and say thank you to those who have laid the foundation of the current St Joseph's tradition and culture of helping the most vulnerable. VCAL will be running this service throughout 2021 If you know of any past students like Barry in the Geelong region who would appreciate a backyard blitz please contact [email protected] to arrange a time and date. #SJCgeelong #StMowsephs #SJOCA #VCAL #SJCbackyardblitz See more

12.01.2022 Geelong Athlete Centre Scholarship Opportunity for 2021 Year 10 students at SJC! Over the remote learning period the St Joseph's community was lucky enough to have enlisted the support of Brianna and David Morgan from the Geelong Athlete Centre to run our Training Tuesday’s LIVE sessions. These sessions were really well received and the feedback from both staff, students and parents who had participated was overwhelmingly positive. David (SJOC 1997) and Brianna (Sacred Heart... alumni) wanted to be able to give back to their secondary schools and have generously offered four 12 week scholarships over the period of 2021 to our Year 10 students. The scholarships would include: - Initial Physical Performance Assessment. (This includes movement assessment as well as testing on our high tech Force Plates) Following the completion of the Assessment and review of a needs analysis questionnaire we write up a program to suit the individual needs of the student in accordance with the sport/s they play and lifestyle. - 2x 1 on 1 sessions with one of us in the first week to go through the program individually. - And then twice weekly for 11 weeks access to do the individual program in one of our small group sessions, 1 coach to no more than 5 Athletes, (classes run before or after school) - Constant support from us throughout the 12 week program - 1x GAC Training T Shirt or Singlet DIGITAL APPLICATION FORMS HAVE BEEN EMAILED TO ALL CURRENT YEAR 9 STUDENTS and are due by 4 DECEMBER. 06.01.2022 Many students joined the Movember Long Table at lunchtime today to demonstrate that everyone should feel like they can talk, no one should sit in silence. 'Toughen up; suck it up, man up.' These phrases have been handed down from generation to generation, like some badge of honour. It teaches us from a very early age that to be a man, you need to be tough, and you do not cry, talk or show your emotions. These messages are damaging and destructive. They are contributing to a growing number of males ‘suffering in silence’ as they fear they will be viewed as weak. Some of us choose to stay silent because of fear. Today we are sitting down to have a conversation to change that stigma. #SJCgeelong #stmosephsgeelong #Movember #starttheconversation #menshealth

02.01.2022 Music is in the air! Those that have been around the Edmund Rice Campus after school will on some nights be treated to music floating around the grounds, as our Band students have taken over courtyards and corridoors to be able to practice together outdoors. While we haven't been able to hold many live performances this year, we can confidently say our music students have not been sitting idle! They are sounding wonderful. Well done boys! #SJCgeelong #SJCmusic
