25.01.2022 Our SACPSSA Athletics squad had a day of monumental success last Wednesday, winning the overall Girls Section, runner up in the Boys Section and winning the Year 3 Girls, Year 4 Girls & Boys and Year 5 Girls & Boys pennants. Congratulations to Stella for winning the Year 3 Girl overall champion athlete. The students participated with grit, skill and determination, showing humility in victory and grace in defeat. The behaviour and attitude of all students was something for us all to be proud of. Well done Tranmere!

23.01.2022 Our students in 5/6TS were privileged to have a visit today from Emily Bourke MLC to hear about State Politics and her role as a Labor Member of the Legislative Council. Emily was immensely engaging and filled the students with unique knowledge about the workings of State Parliament. They were fascinated by the history behind the ‘bloodlines’ of the House of Assembly, the reason that members of the Upper House can NEVER enter the House of Assembly, the role of the Speaker (a...nd their unique ‘initiation’), the art of presenting and debating a parliamentary bill and the role of the Legislative Council in enacting or dismissing legislation. We thank you for spending time with us today Emily. #loveoflearning #communityschool #leadersofthefuture
23.01.2022 We can't wait to see our students when school re-opens on Monday!
23.01.2022 Congratulations to our students who received their Children's University certificates in a special graduation ceremony at school this morning. Despite the challenges of 2020, these young learners have broadened their horizons by being involved in the many new experiences that unfold through taking part in the Children's University Adelaide. The Children's University Adelaide creates a context for children to construct identity through people, places and activities. By taking... their passports to Learning Destinations, the children are provided with a strategy to become successful learners; confident, creative, active and informed citizens. Children's University Adelaide allows students to make new friends that have similar interests, develop leadership skills, explore and develop new talents and celebrate and be rewarded for their achievements. Congratulations everyone!
21.01.2022 As we come to the end of another busy term, we wish our whole school community a safe and restful term break. It is lovely seeing our students grow in their skills and knowledge throughout the term and our Reception students showed us an example of this earlier in the week. Learning how to tie your shoelaces is very tricky when you are in Reception but all the students had a great time practicing their new skills. Our thanks to The Athletes Foot for helping us. Great job Receptions!
21.01.2022 To all the Dads and Father figures in our lives - our blessings and thanks to you this Father’s Day and always.
20.01.2022 As we reach the end of this school year, everyone at St Joseph's Tranmere would like to thank the entire school community for your support and kind understanding as we navigated the changes together through a challenging time. Thank you! This morning we held our End of Year Thanksgiving Liturgy where we celebrated the season of Advent with readings, prayers and carols. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate the joy of the Christmas season and to farewell our Senior Leader...s as they head to their new schools next year. We bid farewell to a number of staff as they move on to new ventures - thank you to Mrs Bennett, Mr Perry, Mr Dolgner, Miss Ranieri, Mrs MacDonald and Mr Smith for their dedication, commitment and service to the school. We also say a fond farewell and a huge thank you to Ms Thompson as she retires from her Assistant Principal role - we wish you a joyful retirement. At the liturgy we were pleased to announce the recipient of the Parish Scholarship for 2021. Congratulations to Sorreno! What a beautiful end to the school year! We wish everyone a peaceful and healthy Christmas season and look forward to seeing you in January for the start of a new year of learning adventures.

18.01.2022 Yesterday our Year 4 - 6 students had a great excursion to learn about Surf Safety at the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club. The students spent the day in small groups and were educated on water, personal survival activities, and emergency procedures. To help with their experience they also spent time in and out of the water using a range of different equipment. The students represented the school beautifully and had a wonderful day in the sunshine. #surflifesaving #watersafety #communityschool #faith #learning #community #opportunity
17.01.2022 Our senior students in the Student Leadership Marketing Team have produced this great podcast outlining how our plans for the school sports day are progressing. Enjoy!
16.01.2022 This week has seen our Year 4 & Year 5 students excitedly set off on their camp to Aldinga. The students have had a great time taking part in the team building and resilience activities organised by Active Ed. There have been delicious BBQ dinners and home made food to keep their energy going. On the first day the students took part in an orienteering activity in the Aldinga scrub, where they had to work as a team to find eight posts with a secret code and decode it on the ...last one. During this activity they were delighted to encounter many kangaroos! Their visit yesterday to the Aldinga Reef was very informative and helped educate the students on the importance of looking after our sea environment. Their group activities have focused on positive team communication and using words of encouragement and a great time has been had by the students and staff. Today is World Teachers Day - our thanks to our hard working staff for all you do to help inspire and educate our students. #activeed #schoolcamp #aldingareef #campsarefun #loveoflearning #teamwork #teambuilding #resilience #worldteachersday
15.01.2022 It's time for the annual Catholic Schools Music Festival - this year with a different look due to the current restrictions. The Festival organisers are in full recording mode, professional lights, sound and cameras, producing a concert video with a shortened program and a school viewing later next term. Our fantastic Choir took part in the recording on Tuesday at the Debourg Theatre, Sacred Heart College. Ms Hull is very proud of all the students who rose to the occasion and performed beautifully. Our choir are in the second row on the left of this photo. Congratulations to all the students in the choir this year and our thanks to Ms Hull for all her work with the choir and the Festival Committee.
15.01.2022 Today students in our Year 4 and Year 5 classes went on an excursion to the Adelaide Zoo. The visit provided a unique learning experience for the students and helped consolidate the learning they have completed in Science on ‘Animal Adaptations’. The students completed tasks through an ebook with their ipads which helped guide their learning and experience on the day. #adelaidezoo #loveoflearning #raisingheartsandminds #communityschool #animaladaptations
14.01.2022 We were delighted yesterday evening to join our Year 6 students and their families at a special Mass followed by their graduation ceremony. Whilst the evening was mush quieter than our normal celebrations due to the current restrictions, it was such a joyful occasion. Our congratulations to Charlie for winning the Hartley Medal, kindly presented by the Hon Vincent Tarzia. Our senior students are to be commended for the positive outlook they have shown in such a challengi...ng year, choosing to focus on the opportunities they have been able to experience and being so supportive of each other. It has been a joy to see them grow from the smallest members of our school community into the fine young people they have become and we send them on to the next stage of their learning journey with our prayers and best wishes. #graduation2020 #year6leavers #Congratulations # #schoollife #communityschool #faith #learning #community #opportunity
13.01.2022 Last Friday our Year 6 senior students visited the Mary MacKillop Interactive Museum. The museum offers a very interesting perspective on the life of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop as well as some history of the first Sisters of St Joseph who joined Mary in helping to live her vision for Catholic Education in South Australia. Mr Bruno Benci, a retired Principal who led our tour and helped the students further understand the work of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, was impre...ssed by how much the students already knew. The Museum has many interesting historical articles including a sleeve from Mary’s habit, her writing desk, and the barn door from the original school door at Penola. The Museum is beautifully set up and offers interesting interactive displays. The children were also impressed by the souvenir shop and the café! The museum is open to the public & the Sisters would love to have families visit. Information about the Museum is available at:- https://www.marymackillopadelaide.org.au/museum/welcome/ #sistersofstjoseph #loveoflearning #marymackillopmuseum #raisingheartsandminds
12.01.2022 Today our students in Years 4, 5 and 6 were very fortunate to have Mayor Jill Whittaker of the Campbelltown Council visit us to speak about the responsibilities of local council, how council is elected and her role as mayor. This was an invaluable learning experience and Mayor Whittaker was immensely impressed by the knowledge our students, the respectful behaviour they showed and the many considered questions they posed. As a past teacher, she really enjoyed speaking to a g...roup of students again. Thank you for your time this morning Mayor Whittaker and for the insightful presentation you prepared. #MayorWhittaker #campbelltowncouncil #loveoflearning #raisingheartsandminds #communityschool
11.01.2022 This week is National Science Week with it’s theme of Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans. With this in mind, this weeks’ learning activities for our Joeys playgroup centred around promoting curiosity and connection with the creatures of the sea. Our little Joeys loved freeing the penguins, seals, sharks and shells from ice using salty water, expressing excitement and pride when their efforts were rewarded with the animals freedom. The art table featured ...paper plate craft, with the choice of making a ferocious shark, snappy crab, colourful turtle or jiggly jellyfish with bubble wrap tentacles. The children were captivated by the four ocean habitats in the small world play trays and used tongs to remove the rubbish that was polluting the sea animals environment. This opened up a whole group discussion on ways to care for our ocean. By the end of the session the children agreed that it was their job to make sure they put their rubbish in the bin and pick up any rubbish they see to prevent it from harming our beautiful ocean and all its wonderful creatures. How great to see the love of learning shining in the youngest members of our school community! #loveoflearning #communityschool #playgroupfun #raisingheartsandminds #nationalscienceweek2020
11.01.2022 Our school greatly values the partnership we have with The Gums Landcare Group.
10.01.2022 Cross Country report by Michael & Alex 5/6ST: This week our students in Years 3 to 6 walked to the Gums Reserve to take part in our own Cross Country day because our school couldn’t attend the SAPSASA Cross Country due to Covid restrictions. The year 3 boys had the first run and the year 6’s ran as a unit last. We all did two laps of a one-kilometre course. Points for sports day were awarded to everyone that finished but the first six place getters got extra points and a ri...bbon. For people who didn’t want to run they could walk the course. At the end we were all puffed out but we all had a great time! The course was very exciting, with hills, gravel and a creek crossing with rocks and flowing water. There were a few wet feet and some people got the stich, but overall, everyone did an excellent job and finished the course. We want to say a big THANK YOU to all the parent helpers that came and helped to point us in the right direction around the track. We will be having a ribbon ceremony at school on Friday so we can congratulate all the place getters. Thanks Michael & Alex for this great report! We are so glad that cross country & other events can still take place at school even with the current restrictions.
10.01.2022 We welcome our Senior Leaders for Term 4, Leila, Michaela, Michael, Amy and Isabel. With such a busy term ahead, there will be many opportunities for our leaders to represent the students in our school. Congratulations everyone!
09.01.2022 Last Tuesday morning, students in 5/6TS had a Zoom conversation with Peter Carnavas the author of our beloved class novel ‘The Elephant’. Peter lives on the Sunshine Coast and was very impressed with the deep level of understanding of his story and its profound themes. He stated that the mature questions from our students were among the best he’s been asked from any group of children in Australia! We learnt a great deal from Peter about the time invested in creating a published novel, the level of editing required, where/how to seek inspiration and how to make effective ‘illustration decisions’. We are looking forward to employing the strategies he shared with us in our own writing. Thank you for spending your time with us Peter.
08.01.2022 Today we would like to introduce Annette McCard to our school community:- "I am delighted to part of the St Joseph’s School Community in the role of Assistant Principal: Religious Identity and Mission. "Like many educators, when I was growing up I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Now, all these years later, I have a great sense of gratitude for over 25 years of being an educator within Catholic Education South Australia. In this time I have held a variety of roles and I have ...worked in a variety of schools. Most recently I was working in the Catholic Education Office as a consultant. "This school is a special place which draws on its Josephite foundations as it provides opportunities for all children to thrive spiritually, emotionally, academically, physically and socially. It is a privilege to a part of St Joseph’s School where all children nurture and grow their capabilities to be people who thrive, learn and lead for the world God desires." 07.01.2022 It is always an exciting time when our new students begin their learning journey at St Joseph's Tranmere. Throughout the term, children who will be joining our Reception classes in 2021 have had an opportunity to take part in the STAR program (School Transition and Readiness Program). We know how vitally important a positive school transition can be in setting up student success and the STAR Program provides that transition. At St Joseph’s Tranmere we provide our students wit...h a positive and safe environment in which to begin their school journey. On Friday mornings throughout this term, the children have been involved in activities that focus on a nurturing play-based model to enhance and support their social, emotional and academic well-being. #startingschool #readyforschool #newstudents #schoolcommunity #schoollife #faith #learning #community #opportunity
06.01.2022 This morning staff and students celebrated our beginning of year liturgy. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and gathered outside where our Year 6 students were delighted to lead their Reception 'buddies' into the liturgy. Our theme was ‘community’. We listened to the parable which means so much to this school The Mustard Seed, and connected this story to our story of being a community living the values of love, gratitude, respect, excellence and justice. #schoolliturgy #schoolvalues #schoolcommunity #communityschool #faith #learning #community #opportunity
05.01.2022 An exciting day of filming for our talented voice students today as they took part with such enthusiasm in the recording for their virtual annual Showcase. 05.01.2022 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Throughout the school our students are busily working together to create beautiful Christmas memories from sorting reindeer food to creating gingerbread house masterpieces. We are so proud of all our students for the adaptability and resilience they have shown in this year of such change. Now, as we come towards the end of the school year, it is lovely to reflect on the message of hope, love, light and life at Christmas. #christmas2020 #endofschoolyear #christmascraft #proudofourstudents #resilience #adaptability #careofeachother #faith #learning #Community #opportunity

04.01.2022 Today we commemorated Ash Wednesday. The Receptions to Year 3 students had a liturgy in the school hall and the older children attended Mass in the church. The sprinkling of the ashes on the head today is a symbol of choosing to live a life of kindness, love, compassion and forgiveness. It is the start of the Lenten season which culminates in Easter. #AshWednesday2021 #lentenseason #catholicschool #communityschool #faith #learning #community #opportunity
03.01.2022 Lest we forget. Today the school took part in a Liturgy of Remembrance, led by our Year 6 senior students, to honour those people whose lives were lost in the wars in which Australia fought. We also remember those whose lives have been affected by the grief and loss caused by wars. Classes placed poppies in the gates and fence line along Magill Road Our Year 4/5 students are pictured in front of the poppies they made. ... #lestweforget #remembranceday #raisingheartsandminds #poppies #communityschool #faith #learning #community #opportunity
03.01.2022 Today our school celebrated Shrove Tuesday by getting together and eating pancakes. Today is a special day as we follow the tradition that was started many years ago when people used up food items in preparation for the season of Lent, which begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday. A big thank you to our Community Connections Leadership Group who organised and distributed the pancakes. Another big thank you to Foodland Norwood who donated the pancakes. Our school was able to raise a significant sum for Project Compassion today, thank you everyone for supporting this day. #norwoodfoodland #communitysupport #lent2021 #shrovetuesday #communityschool #SchoolCommunity #faith #learning #community #opportunity
03.01.2022 Our Junior Landcare group were back at The Gums Reserve again this week. This time we were visited by Laura Wills and Gerry Butler. Gerry is the chairperson of the local Landcare group and he presented the remainder of the students with their adoption certificates for the ‘Adopt a Family Tree’ program. He was also able to provide the students with the botanical names for their chosen trees and detailed information about each species and the unique features that it has and ho...w that fits within the biodiversity of the Gums Reserve. Laura is a local South Australian visual artist, who will spend two sessions with the students assisting them with the creation of an artwork that helps to reflect the students connections with their adopted tree. Their first session went really well - all their backgrounds have been prepared, ready to move on to the body of the artwork next week. We look forward to seeing the finished artworks! #LandcareSA #Communityschool #careforourworld #localhabitat #ecologicalconversion
02.01.2022 Yesterday our Reception classes went on an excursion to the Adelaide Zoo to support their learning in Science.
