20.01.2022 Some of you might have been concerned for our international BAMF 2020 organist David Chynoweth and wondered how he was going upon returning to Italy. I wrote to him last week asking if he was ok and received a beautiful letter from his mother. She kindly allowed me to share it with you below. Dear Myee, It’s so nice to hear from you.(This is David’s mother writing from his inbox, answering on his behalf.)... Thank you for your concern: yes, despite rigid border issues and after a difficult flight return from Sydney (including a sudden connecting flight cancellation) he finally did made it back to Italy. It was most uncomfortable for him due to full flights, necessity of constantly wearing protective gloves and face masks and the risk and frustration of having to use irregular public transport upon arrival. Unfortunately, Italy is legitimately under severe restrictions due to the epidemic and everything is entirely locked down there. What makes the situation even more complicated is that David is currently self-isolated and in quarantine which means that he’s unable to leave the room in the country where he is staying, obviously to ensure that he’s not infectious and can’t bring harm to anyone. He won’t have WiFi internet access for at least a fortnight and he has to keep his SIM card use low for emergencies... I’m currently in touch with those who are checking in with him and going about ‘undoing’ his future arrangements. As a foreigner and concert musician, David is particularly affected; all his engagements until November have been cancelled and all future 2021 engagements are now on hold. The only good news is that he appears to be in good health. What a beautiful initiative to portray the artists Myee! Thanks for sharing the link. We are all so disappointed that the festival has been cancelled and I think that this is truly a lovely way to keep the spirit alive! Unfortunately, David doesn't have access to his video clip archives at home and he’s also unable to upload for the time being. It may be a bit tough to organise this time I’m afraid. On his behalf, I’d like to offer you and the community of St. Jude’s our most profound commiserations for the cancellation of the BAMF 2020 and our appeal to all to take the greatest health precautions. David is very fond of Bowral, St. Jude’s and is very grateful to you Myee, and to your organist Dr. Allan Beavis, for your great care and organisation. He’s particularly disappointed about missing this engagement. He hopes to have the opportunity to return once this dreadful pestilence is overcome. Best of wishes to all! Warmly, Ms. Chynoweth See more

20.01.2022 Here are some happy memories from last year’s BAMF 2019! Nice to have a good reminder to keep following and supporting these wonderful musicians and composers wherever they may be. Check out their websites, buy their CDs and listen to their music on YouTube and Spotify... They need our support and we need their music more than ever in these challenging times.

17.01.2022 Our BAMF 2020 Artist Taryn Fiebig sings some Mozart for us. Enjoy!

17.01.2022 Many of our Bowral Autumn Music Festival Artists have been performing ‘online’ these last few months through a wonderful new initiative called the Melbourne Digital Concert Hall series. Here is a link to Friday’s concert with the clarinettist David Griffiths and pianist Ian Munro from the Australian Ensemble:

10.01.2022 Some of you may remember our wonderful Rising Star cellist Lily Dai who performed during BAMF 2018. It gives us great pleasure to hear she has just been accepted into the Juilliard School of Music. We wish her good luck in her musical endeavours!
