25.01.2022 And the winner is.............. Armstrong House!!! Today we announced the overall house winner and age champions from our recent Inter-house Athletics Carnivals. ... Congratulations to all students who competed across both days.



25.01.2022 Its an exciting time for our Year 5 students as they departed for their leadership camp today. Our camp vision is to help develop young leaders of the future.

24.01.2022 Our Year 5 students soared to new heights as they challenged themselves to step outside their comfort zone during their Year 5 Leadership Camp this week a Currimundi. Mateship, communication, leadership and teamwork were on show as students enjoyed many activities such as paddle boarding, rock climbing, archery, the giant swing and many group activities.

24.01.2022 Families are reminded that this Wednesday, 7 October is our School Photo Day. Students are to wear their sports uniform and bring their best smiles! If your child is in band please ensure they bring their instruments. The Uniform shop will be open tomorrow morning (8am - 9am) for any last-minute uniform needs before school photos on Wednesday. If ordering on QKR! please order before 12noon Tuesday for delivery to the classroom Tuesday afternoon. The Uniform shop will be closed Wednesday morning.

23.01.2022 Celebrating National Science Week our Year 5 and 6 students had a morning filled with science experiments! They made honeycomb, lava lamps, walking water tie dye, rain clouds and tested bags of water against the force of sharp pens and pencils.

23.01.2022 Congratulations to all our students for their achievements during our Inter-house Cross Country over the last three days. It was wonderful to see the effort, team spirit, determination and sportsmanship displayed during the day. Age champions will be announced and the House Shield awarded to the winning team next week. 22.01.2022 The St Kieran's P & F Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 13th October at 7PM. This is an important event on our school calendar as we show our support for the parents who stand up to support community and fund raising for the next 12 months.

22.01.2022 The last two weeks in English, our Year 3 students have been engaging in the text Punctuation Takes A Vacation. Today they are consolidating our learning by conducting SENTENCE SURGERY.

22.01.2022 This morning I got the opportunity to celebrate National Tuckshop Day at St Kieran's Primary School. This year, St Kieran’s began a great initiative which prov...ided take-home meals to many of their families. This aided families during the peak of the pandemic and is a program they are continuing to run. 21.01.2022 Today St Kierans Primary School celebrates 60 years of education in our local community.

21.01.2022 Our Year 3 students have enjoyed a day of fun during their Celebration of Learning day! Students played with moon dough, shaving cream, guided drawing, active games, LEGO, fraction games, kinetic sand, water beads, play dough and iPads.

20.01.2022 Following a beautiful Mass led by our Year 5 students, our 60th celebrations continued with students enjoying a sausage sizzle lunch and olden day games and activities.

20.01.2022 This week is National Child Protection Week. The theme for 2020 is Putting children first., with a focus on the safety and wellbeing of children. Keeping children safe and well is everybodys business.

17.01.2022 The Brisbane Archdioceses Annual Catholic Campaign runs during the last two weeks of September and relies on the generosity of the community to raise funds to support vital ministries around South East Queensland. St Kierans will support this initiative with a Free Dress Day on the last day of term, Friday 18 September in exchange for a gold coin donation.

17.01.2022 At St Kierans, our beautiful grounds and wide open spaces allow us to see a variety of beautiful wildlife. Today, this Tawny Frogmouth was found on the school grounds. After a check over, it was determined that he was in good health and would be released back onto school grounds this afternoon at dusk.

16.01.2022 This week is National Science Week and is Australias annual celebration of science and technology. St Kierans will be celebrating with lunchtime science experiments on Wednesday and Thursday and classroom experiments on Friday. The week will finish off with all students encouraged to dress like a scientist on Friday.

15.01.2022 You may have been aware there has been an alert circulating on Facebook regarding the school. We have contacted the police and been informed that there is a suspicious device located a significant distance away from our school. We continue to follow our processes to keep all children safe.

15.01.2022 Our Year 3s have excitedly welcomed 20 new additions to their classrooms. Living Eggs is a two week program where chickens will hatch before their eyes in their classrooms. This learning links directly to their science unit investigating observable features of living things.

15.01.2022 Consolidating their learning in Science about "push and pull" forces our Year 2 students are exploring the Queensland Museum and Spark Lab today. This excursion provides the opportunity for students to explore the forces that are at work in everything we do (push,pull and gravity). Through investigations, students observe and gather evidence about how these forces act in air, water and on the ground.

12.01.2022 Chess Club is a co-curricular activity that fosters a love of chess in children. Well-documented research shows that chess can strengthen problem-solving skills; enhance memory and concentration; improve reading and mathematical skills; foster critical, creative and original thinking; teach logical and sequential thinking; and demonstrate the importance of decision-making and consequences. Enrolments are now open for Chess Club in Term 4.

08.01.2022 Consolidating their learning in Science, our Year 3 students recently enjoyed a visit from Bugs Ed. Bugs Ed provide a hands-on entomology based workshop to encourage and expand students interest in insects. They were able to use observable features to identify and categorise insects. They were also given the chance to learn how to pin an insect as well.

05.01.2022 Our Year 6 students excitedly departed for their 3 day camp to Moreton Island this morning. We wish them wonderful times and adventures as they celebrate and reflect upon their learning journey at St Kieran’s.

04.01.2022 What a fantastic Athletics Carnival we have held over the past two days! Our students cheered, jumped, ran and threw with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Our motto Strength through Caring" was evident as students supported one another and helped where possible. Photos of the days events will be available on the parent portal next week. The winning house and age champions will be announced next Friday.

04.01.2022 Consolidating their learning about money, our Year 2 students enjoyed a Start Smart presentation from the Commonwealth Bank today. By making money management interactive, engaging and fun this presentation equip students with the confidence and competence to make smart decisions about money and learn the difference between wants and needs.

03.01.2022 To celebrate the end of National Science Week, the students and staff of St Kierans dressed as scientists and enjoyed weird and wonderful experiments in their classrooms aiming to inspire interest and participation in science. National Science Week Qld #scienceweek2020

03.01.2022 Today our Prep students made a splash as they commence their swimming lessons. During the next two weeks all St Kieran's students will build on their skills and develop confidence in the water. Don't forget to pack rash shirts, swim caps, swimmers, thongs and towels each day.

The Premiers Reading Challenge is an annual statewide initiative for students. It aims to improve literacy and encourage children to engage in reading for pleasure and learning.
