25.01.2022 Good luck to Grace Brown and her Mitchelton-SCOTT team mates this weekend. The last monument for the season, Ronde van Vlaanderen, is on Sunday and Mitchelton-Scott look like the team to beat!

24.01.2022 Hi SKCC Members I just read this great article on CyclingTips today about riding through this lock down period. We can all appreciate it is a very tough time trying to balance the indoors with limited outdoor riding over the past couple of months. The last point of the article is very valuable read, "There's no rush". Right now, there is a mix of people who have never been "fitter" to those who have never been "fatter"...... It doesn't matter which category you are currently ...in, or if you ride 20 or 2 hours a week the most important thing is to enjoy riding your bike!! Stay safe Lewis SKCC President Ps. Can't wait for the day of having a coffee and croissant at the top of 1/20 climb!! cyclingtips.com//how-to-train-with-purpose-during-lockdown/

21.01.2022 Community Rider Profile: Meredith Clark Meredith Clark Also known as M My bikes... I’m almost embarrassed to say. Baum Essence. My other love. Specialised SWorks Amira. My climber. Cervelo P3 with zipp disc. Love my disc. Oh, and a Scott Scale mountain bike. Unfortunately haven’t ridden that for years. Keep meaning to. My cycling journey 12 years ago I developed planter fasciitis. One of the best things that happened to me. That’s when I took up riding. 5 years ago at the age of fourty something I decided to race The Tour of Bright, and that’s when I joined The Hurt Box Coaching Group. Cycling is my meditation. It’s my social life and it’s taken me to some truely amazing places. The Hurt Box is my second family. The training program is provided in an incredibly supportive environment. Before lockdown they were the reason it was so easy to wake up at 5 am 3 days a week. I love to help new riders and love to watch the incredible progress everyone makes under the guidance of Coaches David Sturt and Brett Kingston. Favourite places to ride Locally I love riding in the Dandenongs and further from home Bright. What more can I say. It’s perfect. Racing Highlights Racing 3 World Fondo Championships. One in Perth, one in France and one in Italy. Winning 2 National Fondo Championships (age group based) and Club TTT’s. Riding past the Belvedere Hotel on Switzerland’s Furka Pass. Riding up the Stelvio. And everything in the Dolomites. Meeting and riding with the wonderful people that make up Melbourne’s cycling community. My Zwift Journey I bought my first kicker about 3 months after they were released and joined zwift when it had just come off Beta. I loved it from the start but once I joined the Hurt Box it took a back seat. Getting back on Zwift, and into eRacing has been just what I needed to keep me motivated during these difficult times. Being particularly competitive it’s pretty easy to hurt myself trying to stop someone I’ve never met from passing me. I’m loving the journey, and I feel like I’ve found another family with the AERO-CT. Zwift goals A vEveresting may be on the cards. Watch this space. Favourite Food Everything. Particularly after a 4 hour ride Zwift Australia | New Zealand St Kilda Cycling Club

16.01.2022 Great news for the whole Victorian cycling community!! Finally there will be rules around minimum passing of vehicles in Victoria. This will give a great deal of confidence to all riders but importantly those people who have found the love of cycling in 2020 :) www.sbs.com.au//victorian-government-pledge-13-million-cyc

12.01.2022 Happy Friday SKCC Members! Another week of being confined to the smart trainer and riding around the block. Being the first week of daylight savings it is usually the opening week of Melbourne Crit season . With group rides and racing off the Melbourne agenda, inspiration to keep riding was taken from SKCC’s own Grace Brown winning in Belgium and James Whelan representing in last night’s Giro stage!! Although James is a current member of HCC he was a regular racer with SKCC... at White Street. If you have been watching the Giro and like me dreaming of sitting down to a huge bowl of pasta and an Italian wine then check out Pat Fitzpatrick from Ride International Tours. I have never seen this on offer before! He managed to get his hands on some of the offical Giro D’Italia bubbles . Stay safe and look after each other.
